*Failure of the guy's father/guardian to address the situation, even though they knew it was going to happen.
How the fuck was he supposed to prevent it? He told him not to, he refused to let him ride his fast motorcycle, he refused to loan him the money to buy the bike. Short of chaining him to the bathroom sink, what else could he do to prevent it happening?
GSRman - I think a repeat offender should have their licence removed for a period of time, and a limit set on what they can legally ride/drive. It's obvious the kid was a loose cannon, so why keep handing him back his licence and telling him he can drive/ride whatever he wants? As others have said, a licence is a privilege, not a right. Maybe if he was denied a licence for a year, and then forced to stay on his Ps for a further year once he got his licence back? Perhaps it might have allowed him more time to mature and maybe not kill himself. Or maybe it would simply delay his death a year. But surely a year is still a year?
Paul, maturity & experience not neccessarily come with age.
How old was Valentino Rossi when he won his 1st World Championship? 19 I think...but he undoubtedly has the experience to deal with any bike (judging by his constant speeding fines on both 2 & 4 wheels he may or may not have the maturity)
And yet Valentino still has the occasional crash ...
(albeit at far greater speeds than any mere mortal can find out of a motorbike)

Tighter regulations and laws, whether for bikes or cars, is the absolutely wrong way to go. It is a quick solution, but only a temporary one which will eventually and inevitably cause more problems. Laws artificially desuade a person to do something, but they still want to do it. The solution should be education and maturity, and a better regard for ones community, friends, family, and environment. Laws have the opposite effect. They -breed- immaturity. "You can't do it because if you do you will be punished", that's what you say to kids!!
People should, for themselves, drive responsibly, ride responsibly, treat the environment responsibly...and not out of fear of retribution and punishment. Sure, it'll take longer and they'll be more deaths inbetween, but really, it's the ONLY long time solution.
I was thinking about this last night.. im not sure im for the 'P's after licence back type thing.. chances are at some point, im going to lose my licence.. and i don't want it to happen to me... especially since the cops are starting to target people who are in the middle of nowhere endangering only themselves on bikes.. get caught once and you could lose it right there.. that would suck.. and if we keep protecting people from themselves they are just going to get less common sense..
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...
you guys are'nt gunna like this;young guy ,big bike, wheelie and dies.
adult, super powerful car,1/4 mile the wrong way, dies(judge)i know who the bigger f**k wit is,that latter.
wake up ,it's not a bike thing it's a responsability thing.
sorry for your loss mork.
I fail to see your fucking point. Todd Wilkes was killed in a CAMS event that was poorly organised and thought out. Why does that make him a fuckwit?
Cal.

I am so disgusted of what i have been reading about my friend Matthew Mork who has passed away. How dare you speak of the deceased in that way. Sure you hear about all the bad thing that he has done but if u looked up information on the interent you would see he done some racing himself just like his father and you would also see that he was a mechanic so he knew his cars inside and out. He loved the thrill of riding and he let it get the better of him.
How dare you call my friend an abouslute fuckwit you are an abouslute fuck wit we have been through enough we dont have to have people that dont even no matthew call him a fuckwit. You are s self Centred prick DAZZA.
Matthew had a big ego he thought he could handle it. These are the reason why I believe that it should be harder for people to get these bikes.Young people believe that they can do anything.
Matthew Mork was one of the most amazing people i knew. Rest In Peace Matty You no ur friends will love you forever.
