Car parts maker refuses to honour warranty based on forum

Check this thread out, especially post 26 on page 2. It just gets better from there.

    http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/in...howtopic=23511

If it's fair dinkum, Ford and Ion need to take a good hard look at themselves...

Doesn't sound like the guy has gone through the right avenues to get the info though. Sounds like he's abusing the poor guy on the phone. He might need to calm down and talk to the manager.
Pretty crap if the car isn't allowed to be driven hard though - why market it that way?

That guys sounds like he babies the car compared to what other people doing (including myself).

He should never have to talk to Ion at all - I don't think I need to talk to ZF or Aisin if the box is broken in a Aston or Commodore or Lexus?

It's just a bunch of middle management bureacrats who are all passing the buck.

If you have to deal with this for a $50k car, it's no wonder people look overseas.

i think once legal avenues are persued that he will end up getting it paid for. anyone up to date with the whole forum monitoring, i guess it is a PUBLIC forum for all to see, so are privacy issues being breached?

Wouldn't the smart (from Ford's perspective) thing to do be to say to the owner of the car that there was evidence (in the form of gearbox, mechanical stress) of him mistreating it? Rather than "we spy on you on car forums"? Not good PR considering the owner is now using the same medium to blab to the world about Ford/Ion's practices.

You've all probably seen it where after sales support services do not do things that are conducive with pre-sales/customer care.

Unless pre-sales/customer care/public relations gets onto the service department, the service department will do whatever it takes to save a dollar without any thought about future sales.

Every service department I've seen be it cars or electronics or computers is so divorced from sales, they will happily fuck a customer around until 'someone from the other side' jumps on them.

And then they'll say "meh, that's not my job".
