    AFAIK, the L-series and quite a few other early nissans were based on designs licenced from Mr Benz? To the point of some valvetrain components fitting right in. So no suprise that they are a reasonably straight swap, really, if a totally boring option floats your boat :p

      Pfft, boring... L28 with a diesel crank etc for 3.1l, triple webers, maybe Nitrous kit :D That could be fun. Or L28 with L28ET stuff bolted on - also fun.

          mercs have a weirdo engine bay that often means wide V8's simply won't fit. go over it 20 times with a tape measure before choosing an engine.
          Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

                  Be Careful with the Rod shop conversion also, Mate bougtht the rod shop conversion for his '69 merc and had all sort of issues fitting it, ended up needing lots of mill work. to bring the engine back down to a more manageable height.

                  The rod shop conversion sat the engine way too high, with carby etc protruding through thugh bonnet by a long way.

                          1UZ's are pretty small though, at least my mates one looks to be. Certainly not in the same ballpark as the new Ford 5.4's, those things are beh-hweemoths!
