Modifying cars is not the easiest of things over there... I'd get a C5 Corvette and be done with it. Hell, they even get good milage (!)

If you wanna be seen in the US more so california as "cool", drive a lexus, infiniti (no g20 or j30 rubbish), prius, hummer, any convertible or a huge pick up truck. Only old cunts drive buicks, cadillacs, lincolns. New dodge range is pretty cool, espeically the magnum and the charger.

I saw fuck all old school cars in cali, just too hard to meet emissions.

i tried to understand the inifini's, saw a couple of cool looking ones in the street last week over there. However it seems every single model I found for sale (infini whatever) has a 3.5L v6 and i pretty much stopped looking after that.

this has me tempted, but I think i smell dodge or a typo, its about 20 grand cheaper than the closest 2002 M5.

the E46 M3 is teh winner so far, with a '99 or '00 A4 quattro 1.8T as the runabout / ski rack. Fuck cargo, everyone seems to deliver. Still we shall see. The prices started to really rise about 5 years ago - it's not so much the film. Cudas, Challengers, Chargers, Roadrunners and the like are now worth quite a bit more than back then. (So are Aussie Chargers FWIW). You might be able to find something in your budget. There are also plenty of less well known (over here) Mopars that could be worth checking out too, e.g. Dusters and Darts (especially 340 models), Coronets, Polaras, 300s and Imperials just to name a few.

MOPARS are hard to get bits for, even in the US. And I don't mean steel either (Year One and Shermans have almost everything) but stuff like glass is niegh on impossible to find repo.
