    Another new supercar manufacturer

Just found out about these guys on top gear

    http://leblanc.oxy.ch/index.asp

They make a 700hp car that can be driven on the street (probably not in aus though) and it also complies to race at lemans.

There have been a heap of small manufacturers start up or come into the public spotlight recently mainly for producing hi-po cars like this, I wonder how many more we will see?

    Koenigsegg,
    Noble,
    Morgan,
These guys etc are a few examples

Morgan is as old as the hills, they're from before World War I!
Supercar & kit-car manufacturers have been coming & going for decades & decades too; almost all go broke.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I said 'start up or come into the public spotlight

ie 'new' or 'old but they are in the spotight now'

Still there is alot of choice on where to dispose of your hard earned money these days

This car looks like a mild rehash of a 962 porsche. It will fail.

            Errrm, 1/2 a million Euro??? So $800k...

Im sure they might be a great thing but I'll say it again, guys spending that much money want to be able to brag to their mates, how good it is really isnt relevant.
They will feel imasculated if they have to explain to their mates in their exclusive club what it is exactly that they dropped a mill on. If its not a Merc, Porsche, ferrari or Lambo then they will have to explain that its this little cottage out the back of nowheresville with 4 blokes & a dog who are about to take over the supercar world.
In the end its easier to say I got a Carrera GT, enzo, SLR or whatever & say its the best Porsche/Ferrari/Merc car you can get...then their mates will nod approvingly rather than snigger behind their back.

Face it, they are not bought to be driven, they are bought to be tossed off over.

When 5th Gear tested the Koenigsegg they were amazed at just how badly the thing handled and fact it broke down 1/2 way through the 2nd lap saved it from the embarresment of looking like a complete POS on the track.

Tiff commented that it really doesn't matter as they hardly get driven and when they do its by people who don't know what they are doing.

I would really like to know what sort of engine they are going to use...very vague.

The British used to offer tax consessions on cars that were bought in kit form and assembled at home. Hence why there is still such a cottage industry over there.

I think Rover still had the same idea....

Ford tried the assemble at home trick with the Escort/cortina/granada as well...however, there were 2 problems: they did too much work before it left the factory and it made it hard for a home handyman to correct their mistakes and they still charged full price for the car....hence the current state of the UK manufacturing industry.

                      Fair dinkum?

Edo, although I think your blunt style of conversation is refreshing, I think you ought to turn it down a bit. One, the wannabe fan-boys of all things exotic would be hurt by your accusations and two, not all drivers of hi-po machinery are tossers…
