In Melb its a half hour walk from my front door to my office in Bourke st Mall.
In Brissy in the car its generally about 20 minutes...
I dont do public transport it just sucks arse. Im sick of catching bloody aeroplanes, thats way too much exposure to the general public.
Id spend an hour in the comfort of my car rather than spend 10 minutes on a train/bus. During that time, I can still read a book, I can listen to anything I want on the radio, I can make phone calls (& dont have to be concerned about evesdropping).

30 k's to work, 5 traffic lights, mountain pass, takes 30 minutes. I love Newcastle.
When I lived in sydney it took nearly an hour to travel 20k's and there were over 70 traffic lights.Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Unfortunately, the best Sydney radio station seems to be morphing into a talkback radio station, all the other stations suck arse to the point that they're generally unlistenable; and listening to the radio was the only personal entertainment thing I could think of that you can't do on the train.Originally posted by SecohYou know you can, like, change radio stations to not talkback radio, right?
You're worried about eavesdropping? Meh, I don't give a toss if I overhear other people's conversations.Originally posted by edoI'd spend an hour in the comfort of my car rather than spend 10 minutes on a train/bus. I must admit, this aversion to public transport is pretty common among those who've never really given it a chance. As always, everything's a compromise; your clothes don't stay clean as longer on public transport, and you do need to cope with greater temperature extremes. However, on the other side, you get used to how relaxing it is being chauffer-driven, and how you can have a drink or two after work w/out worrying about how you're going to get home. Once most people have become used to travelling on public transport, they find going back to driving to be really annoying.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
