looks fat. But why why why go back to a 2.0?

nobody in their right mind would sell their 2.5 206kw 06 for a 2.0 (180kw?) 08/09 with less torque.

Somehow the pic looks like a SEAT...

Is this a sign of a pending sell off by GM and toyota buying into subaru?
Toyota has a problem I wish to have... "too much money I don't know what to do with it syndrome"...

I don't get why they're going to mess with a proven formula that's been working so well for so long.

not messing with winning formulas is where people go wrong (US car makers are an example of this). Look at IBM for a better example of not messing with a winning formula.. sometimes doing nothing isn't the best policy.

            I don't see the problem.

This is a new model. A 2.0 litre AWD hatch is better than a FWD hatch.

If ya wanna be a sweed you can always buy the next WRX w/ 2.5 litres and a huffer.

If they were saying they were canning the WRX well of course I'd be out the front off Subaru HQ with a semi auto pistol.

It makes me sick how much subaru have fucked around with the shape/weight of the wrx since the 99-00 models.

Don't forget that story is from a UK perspective, too.
Is the hot WRX engine in Japan currently a 2.5, or is it a 2.0? They were running the 2.0 in the JDM when the US had a 2.5, weren't they?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

They are stuck with a WRX 2.0 in Japan, the STI, (S204) and SPEC C MY05 all have the twin scroll for better response, increased torque and marginal power, however the 2.5 is available in Japan in the Forester STI (!).

I though they might use a modular version of the EZ30 seeing it is a fresh design.
How about the 4G63...it's been kicking around since 1983...23 years and still powering on!

Datzed, that's what I have been hearing. Furtheremore the Colt probably won't make an appearance for Ralliart on the WRC stage afterall.

I asked this very question to the guys in Japan. Has Aqua or any tuning shop dropped in a 2.5L into a STi. "Don't know about the others but Aqua has stayed with the 2.0L, better for the circuit and it's not like you can't extract hugh power from the EJ20 or 2.2L kit". I know for one the trend is dropping in the later EJ20 into early model Rexs.

They sold the lot according to that article. They sold part of their suzuki holdings and still have 3% of that. They sold GMAC, they'd sell there own mothers if they could get back to making cash.

Interesting take on the Impreza and about time a two-door version returned to the line-up. Hopefully the shorter dimensions (I'm assuming it'll be smaller overall than the current Impreza) will make it a lighter and more nimble vehicle, both on and off the road.
                              Back in bloody Perth again...
