Trial, you are obviously a newbie. You must take this matter to court.
Rock up in your scungiest jeans and tell the Judge that you are really sorry.
Don't forget to tell him that you have a lot of remorse and that it wasn't really your fault that the other car you hit was being driven by a legally licensed person who was obeying all of the road rules whilst travelling on the same street as you were when you crashed into it. Remind him that it would be unfair of him to hold you responsible for the behaviour of your two drunk mates, even if you were drunk and they punched the lights out of some innocent bystanders who saw you crash into athe nother car, before you all tried to do a bunko and flee from the scene of the accident.
Don't forget to tell him that your mum is really upset with you and that you dad is pretty angry, and you think you've learnt your lesson. Tell him that your mum and dad just want to move on from this and start their life a new, without this painfull memory coming back to haunt them. Offer to take a 2 year good behaviour bond and a six month susension of your license for committing such a heynas crime. If that fails, you still have a few options ...
Option 1 ... pucker up, bend over and take it like a Man as Gav suggested...
Option 2 ... Tell him that you dad is a cop!
Option 3 ... Tell him that a precedent has been set <link>
Besides, everyone knows that this should really be a family matter
