Just drive one...that should put you off. Front wheels are connected to the steering wheel via a bag full of porridge

            So in summary:

They have less street cred than a Volvo
Are as expensive (or moreso) as BMW to run
Steer like an ex-taxi XB Falcon
And have less resale value than a mid-eighties korean shopping trolley

I suggest you buy one asap

aus9000ti or something - usually posts a lot of shit as you'd expect from a saab owner

Funny you should mention that...one of the guys here at work is the son of a Specialst Surgeon...his dad has always had mercs or BMW and flips them every 2 years....this time he was sucked in by the SAAB advertising and price.

Eight months into the lease he couldn't take it anymore....the cost of servicing, the shithouse dynamics and the crapola service from the SAAB dealer got too much for him so he decided to get rid of it and buy a decent car.....lets just say the trade in price was an insult....even for a SAAB

:D looks like I'm alone in liking em. they're not anywhere as awful as everyone say's
                    1) mines on the lpt original turbine, and its chipped, still going strong 96k after the chippping.
                    2) never overheated.
                    3) the steering isn't bad. for comparison, has anyone here driven a volvo 850/V70? now those have shitty front suspension and turning. this is a hundred times better. we had both.
                    4) cheaper than beemer to run for sure. lots of dodgy chinese beemer parts out there to make it feel cheaper though!

Like all cars, have a drive - if you like it, then buy it. if you don't, then look for something else

                    enjoy the test drive.

                      we have owned a 900se 2.5 v6 since new
                      done only 150k km's
                      has been nothing but trouble
auto gearbox problems, steering problems (was told something in the steering melted)

                      expensive service, parts..etc

cost close to 60k new now your lucky to get 8k for it

a stocko KF laser handling > 99% of SAABs. comparison to volvo 850...well...since you mentioned BMW's - theyre 11tybillion times better in overall dynamics.

what was the fast one a few years ago that came in that bright blue? the Viggen? about the only redeaming feature was that it had a fair amount of poke, which made corners come up faster, which in turn revealed how bad it was.

Front RHS wheel off to do anything to the belt or alternator and starter from memory. Prepare to have the guard liner pretty much left off like a few SAAB's that I saw in and out of dealers for weeks on end.
People servicing them dont know much about them either in my experience. I was standing in a melbourne dealership a few years ago, picking up a driver to come and take away a SAAB we had just repaired, only to hear a service girl on the phone to a customer, and I remember this dead set word for word:
"yes Im sorry that we've had to replace the part again, but it was quite badly worn, well yes I know that your car is under warranty sir, but it was an important part, ---- yes yes, it was the harmonic balancer. ---- what does a harmonic balancer do? well it balances the harmonics out sir"

Non turbo models are absolute slugs, friend had one that struggled to make it up the hill outside of greenvale.

One final story....a mate had an old 9-5 that looked ok but was getting on. He drove to his local Holden Dealership to trade it in on a new Commode.

The dealer agreed to give him 4 grand for it subject to a quick inspection on the hoist. They go to drive it onto the hoist and it won't start....turns out the head gasket had blown on the trip to the dealership....the dealer changed the offer to $500....my mate took it with open arms and drove away in a new Commode. (BTW...the dealer was his brother-in-law)
