I'd also say the Gti Swift seats, best seats i've used IMHO

Don't use WRX seats, fucking uncomfortable! Too much lumbar support.

Type R seats are good but I think they'd be a little expensive...

Can't remember the MX5 seats, must be good tho.

edit: I said "I reckon" three times in this post...such good english!

i ripped out my mx5 seat for a Spacro sprint.

its a fixed bucket, but does fit people larger than the typical bride seat.

u can find em around $400 brand new.

        why not get aftermarket seats?

MX5 seats aren;t all that good IMHO, i have driven my mate;s first gen a few times and they arent very supportive (laterally) at all.

if you are thin, you should be able to find an aftermarket one very easily, i have sat in loads and they make cracking noises when i try to get my hips in. i think the majority are made for tiny people.

          why is this the case?

surely you can get it rego'd with fixed shells as long as the rear seat(?) is removed and you still have inertia reels?

these are the type of seats i want for my datsun, but these are that cheap that i don't want to consider them as i don't think they are safe

You really need to try a race type seat though, needs to be a snug but not tight fit. Should be clearly ADR compliant too for a registered car.

I purchased that exact seat from Ebay and it has no right to be as good as it is for the price. They are very, very good quality. A mate has bought a couple too and he and put me onto them. I will use it as a passenger seat in the race car but the quality of the seat and runners, is amazing for the price.

In NSW you can have two fixedback seats as long as you car is a 2 seater or registered as a 2 seater with the back seat removed.

If you want to keep it as a 2 + 2 you need ONE recliner - driver or passenger doesn't matter.

Mitsu EVO seats are often cheap and reasonable, Recaro's as well

They seem to be glass or FRP. Hard to say without craking one. The runners/mounts are steel. I bet very few aftermarket seats are really ADR compliant, but I was under the impression that FIA spec was considered OK by most engineers. The seats my fathers clubbie runs are just glass shells made by a fella in QLD and I bet his aren't ADR approved either - as long as the engineer thinks they are cool - they are I guess.

Oh, and the mob who sells them doesn't respond to emails - at all. For the record two, each different model MX5 has different seats. The Oct 2000 NB8B model and forward have excellent seats - the early models had atrocious seats. A common upgrade is newer model seats into older model cars.
