agreed , go get a complete motor from a cut and switch all the good stuff onto it.
keep the boost reasonable and be merry.

My car had a brand new Nismo pump which died and cost an engine :/ the Jun one seems to be working fine though..

Thank fuck i didn't have to pay for the Jun one :oh:

haha oh come on it's not that bad Rebuild costs are coming out of my wallet, not yours! I would prefer to have this off the road a few more months and cost a few more grand to get it done right the first time than fuck around just so I can drive it and have to get the motor pulled out to build up the internals. The internals were always going to be something I was looking at doing down the track, the rebuild date was just brought forward.

I remember standing infront of the car, bonnet up, looking at the oil everywhere, saying "if it is on the road again by the end of the year then I'll be suprised'. Nothing has changed. Annoying yes, but the results will be worth it.

As Nath said, there are few quick Skylines up here and there has never been one with a decent amount of power before. Skylines only really started flooding into the NT in the past 6 - 12 months, before that it was s13's and the 'occasional' skyline but nothing serious. We area bit slow in that regard but that doesn't mean I personally have to be.

Edit: - The good thing about talking about all this on PF is that because Darwin is small, word spreads quick and I want to have a discussion with people that know their shit without running off to tell everyone they know. Yes, Darwin is that bad. So thanks everyone for your opinions, even though my mind is on one idea, if it comes to the crunch and I have to downgrade, then you lot have pointed out those options as well!

Ill reiterate my feelings once again

25 with cams , and a proper tune, will spool early and have good all round grunt

my mates 25 r33 with a gt35r comes onto boost 300rpm after a stocker, and makes 470 rwhp....

my other mates makes 350 rwhp and is on boost before a stock turbo with a gtrs and cams! incredibly linear and smooth, looks stock under the bonnet.

its all about setup, you have a awesome ecu, make it happen

They are going to put an add in the paper when my car nears completion and get a group of imports together, so I don't get slugged with the individual cost of it.

I wouldnt get any from Perth to tune my car, and i live in perth,

well what im saying is that i can guess at the person who would do it, and id rather have a monkey to do it. Would putting the car on a truck and sending it to qld save alot of hassel in the long run?

A good idea to is to get it tuned on 96 octane fuel, sure you will make less power but its a heal of alot safer incase you get a bad batch

TJs on the ball - everyone has seen RB25s with Jap cams, fueling, big turbo, good management do well well in excess of 300rwkW with excellent reliability on 95 ron. They should spool in the mid-3,000rpm range.

I would be interested to see what the price difference is in the RB25 vs. RB30 rebuild.

3L is cheaper to build, blocks cost nothing, parts are cheaper, you would be mad not to put the 3L bottom end in it
                    im a cunt

I got the impression that the RB30 bottom end rebuild was going to be cheaper?

With the right compensations it wont matter...

Youve lost me how does the MoTeC figure out that you have a lower octance fuel than what the car was tuned on? Knock sensor or somesuch?

RIU called me with a quote from Bresciani Racing for the RB30 forged bottom end = $4700. They said they would do it for "basically the same price".

This information is basically entertainment value only at the moment.

                              yep, knock sensor.

Oh, if you dont have that avaliable...undoubtedly its a motec option...you could learn to hear detonation & get the fuck off it!

when you say forged bottom end is that the cradle and crank and all the gubbins that tie it together?
