Pity they can't close of the "16km of twisties" on the Putty Road for a rally. Now that would be an exciting piece of road to drive with no limit!
Did a few laps of the up/down near the Pie Shop on Saturday. Procycles hornsby were kind enough to lend me a BMW R1200S and a HP2 (supermotard) for some laps. Excellent fun

Generally the way 'touring road events' (which is what it is if they dont have a rally permit & you dont need to conform to rally regs) get around this is that they call it an average speed event. So they say you must average (for example) 100kph over this stretch of road. Now, they tend to set speeds that are all but impossible, so the guy who gets closest (ie fastest) to the 100kph average wins.
If you can defy the laws of physics (or dumbfound the organisors) & go faster than 100kph, you are disqualified.
Thats how they get around the CAMS regs.
If you want to do it, dont wait till next year because if there is one half serious crash it will never happen again.
Id prefer it to be run under rally regs, purely because it would be good to have a tarmac event in NSW. And then it has a chance to keep running for years & years.

Ahh yeh, Peachester...That was a good day that could of ended in lots of tears at one point....three people know what I'm talking aboutOriginally posted by KiahatsiuKev: they need a similar event on the "peachester" road I think it was. I remember many moons ago seeing a white swift GTi going rather fast up and down there.
I'd prefer it over Nebo tho...I remember ages ago (like 15 years) there was talk of something happening up Mt Glorious from Samford, but as usual it got canned. It was quite possibly just talk but I remember hearing reading about it in the paper or something I think. It could of also been one of the massive stories a mate at school made up to make himself look better, along with the 100ft boat his dad owned, the mansion on mt nebo and his dad being the ceo of volvo worldwide... :knock:

Kev: I was just thinking that. If you wanted to close a road around Brisbane to run a Hillclimb, that section from the bridge to the road intersection at Mount Glorious would be the one. Shortish lotsa corners and would even be fairly equal to high HP and low HP small and nimble alike. There's also no houses you would be cutting access to for the weekend.

Make it early or late october, since my plans to go to Nismo festival have been canned again I'm thinking of going over in october for the F1 and Super GT. Cathy would definately be the sort of car which would absolutely love this road.Originally posted by edoHaving said that...IMOA, I'll be coming down for some coaching in Cathy in about October I reckon
Oh, and I checked the rego label on the weekend, 7 Dec 2006. It's like the gods want us to be there
It might be interesting if they do the average speed thing as at the front of the field I suspect the average speed would be pretty high. On the east coast rally they had this on some slower sections of the old road with an average speed around 110 and a lot of competitors were having to back off so they didn'y "break out". On this bit of road I suspect the average speed at the pointy end would be the other side of 150.
