So the wheel shop insisted on a size that doesn't fit properly.......take it back and tell them they're too big and you want the right ones.

you do not need 265 tyres on a car of this power... you may as well go with 245 and save the money

The wheels I have are 9.5" on the rear, hence the wider tyres. The front are 8.5" and are running 235.

I managed to find this too.. proper H&R 5mm spacers in a smaller size then the 20mm on the previous page. These will bolt onto the hub as described in earlier posts.

        http://www.optionimports.com/10255571a.html

At the moment the illegal spacers I have on are 6mm and simply have one set of holes and simply sit inbetween the hub and wheel.

Closer inspection.. the spacers above arent the bolt on ones I need. They are simply HR slip on spacers like I already have. doh. :knock:

Why did you put different width rims on the back? I have 19"x8.5"'s with 235's all round on my A4 and it's a tight fit. Buggered if I know how 265's would go. What is standard?

I sometimes used 2 or 3mm free float spacers at the back.

I did however have aftermarket hardened aluminum studs.

Looked stock, didn't make a lick of difference handling wise.

Actually, anyone watch the Dutton rally on ch 9 yesterday? There was an Audi TT that lost a wheel going over a bridge because the wheel spacer broke... heh

I dont know to or :oh: about that above.. lol

Ok so I just got back from the Vortex cruise and I had to wash my car again. Good opportunity to show how the springs I had fitted last night.

The first with the flash to get a good idea of the gap.

                  And the others..

I think it looks pefect.. not too low nor too high. Last night Seb@inmotive stayed back nice and late to fit me out with 30mm H&R Sport Springs. I think everyone agreed today at the cruise that is a perfect drop. The TT looks much better now that its sitting right. And the 30mm drop is perfect i'd say. Well what a difference they made. I dont think today's cruise would have been half as fun without the springs.

Some bumpy sections of the national park were a little hard, but it isnt bottoming out like I expected. Driveways and speed humps are fine also. Of course the ride is stiffer, but thats to be expected and im not worried. I drove over 300km today on them and im stoked.

Handling is so much better I can hardly explain. The car is flat.. period. Cornering @ 100km/h+ isnt a problem especially with the larger, wider wheels and tyres.

Thanks for all the advice guys, ive really appreciated it.

looked alot better than before. a little lower would look better imo.
has it been wheel aligned yet?
the rear gap looks bigger than the front, maybe thats because of the hilly driveway. post some pix of the car on a flat ground if you can next time....

Driving today and just heading into work im starting to notice just how harsh the springs can be on dodgy roads. To be more specific, the car handles dips in the road perfectly. It doesnt bottom out or anything like that. But pot holes hit hard, but I guess thats to be expected. But for the amount it cost and the result I achieved, I cant complain. Coilovers will definately be something ill add shortly (<6 months). I got these springs so cheap which made up my mind for me ultimately. $500 total cost installed compared with $3k for coils.

Any idea what the Bilstein shocks will cost? Will they just last longer then the stockers or actually soften the ride up a little? ie; will they handle the pot holes etc better without the 'bang' that currently happens.

i dont see the point of getting coilovers if you are going to use this car as a daily and sometimes through the national park.
go with a good aftermarket shocks setup.
give hassman a buzz and see what they have for you.

does audi normally put different size wheels front to back?

how do the haldex clutches take to it?

No they dont.. but I looked into that very carefully before purchasing.

So long as your rolling diameter is similar (or the same) its fine. So in this case I went with 35 series front and 30 rear.
