I'm looking at buying one for the family in the next 6 months.

There's nothing else in the price range with the space. We do fuckall kays so it's going to get a pretty easy life with us.

Funny how the 2000 models have 67000 kays. They must cust 120kays off EVERY single one.

Al- was that just one you had with a problem or do you think that is universal? Seems a pretty mixed bag of opinion online (except they are universally judged as the ugliest car on the road :D)

It's not just delicas that have the problems, it's 4M40 engines. The wastegate pivot seizes and they overboost which must help the headgasket relieve itself. This dumps the coolant into the reservoir and the engine then cooks. Game over.

They are a bit like Surfs I suppose, you might get a few gems among them but most will have issues at some stage. The fact that they are all "only" 67k kms old when you buy them is probably a factor. Most of them probably have more like 200k on them. The whole 'Japs don't do any miles' thing is just bullshit. I see loads of half cuts with 150-200k on them that are only 10 yo. And that's performance cars not soccer mum cars.

Not to say you shouldn't buy one though, just buyer beware. And fit a low water level sensor and listen out for the overboost valve honking away.

The only reason why I got the Voyager over the Delica is I can't lease an import, I asked.

Look up the Delica club forums Muz, they have all the buyers guides etc. It's the usual old Jap diesel story: Fuel pumps, turbos and head gaskets. Ensure they've all been dealt with and happy days.

You could always get a V6 and gas it I suppose, but that would be kinda gay.

            Thanks guys.

For us doing under 10 000 kays a year I reckon the petrol one might be the go. They are maybe $5k cheaper and it seems that they use the 6g72 which is common to the magna.

              Anybody live near Springwood?

Turns out the guy that owns the one in my link took it up to Brisbane through the week and put it on consignment in the import auto centre.

If someone can go and have a cursory look at it for me that would be tops.

              Cheers

That is true and I guess I'm realistic. I've seen plenty of Mitsubishi Starwagon style vans on the beach before however.

Not bad, but 4wd? wtf, it has less clearance than a mazda2!!

This also highlights that the delica has low and high range 4wd, the Hiace is AWD only.

Everything I've read about the delica is negative on the web. I have a mate who swears by his, but he is one of those easily pleased people. They look like ass also, i'm just not convinced on any rivals to rule it out though.

I'll let you know what the petrol ones are like tomorrow.

$12k- can't go too wrong. The yard had $22k on the window!

Just don't put fucking high rated headlights in it.

Had a cunt behind me the other day with em in , I was tempted to stop and put a fucking jack handle through em.

Don't worry, the lights are plastic and will burn the arse out of themselves quicksmart. They are also just shit lights.

                        Got it- rapt.

Heavy but rides really nice. Seems pretty unbreakable on the beach- has a centre locker and proper 4wd. I thought it would be a gimmick to be honest.

Inside is full of cool buttons and my son loves the rear air con control.

I thought they would be a bit bigger in the back but I guess they used up most of the space with the big seats. Still heaps of legroom even for me and heaps of spare room fopr junk.

Thanks again to Steve for having a look and saving me getting up to Brizzy. Cheers.

If you need a van, you're way past bangbus stage.
Although I saw an old Tarago P plater yesterday that had to be a bangbus.
