    Odyssey batterys

Im going to relocate the battery to the boot, and with the help of a few supplies from work, duct it in and run some fairly beefy twin insulated cable.

My question is, is it worth getting an odyssey battery and a small battery case, or should I just stick with the regular sized battery?

Also where can I get one from (townsville people) and what should I expect to pay for one to suit my needs?

Seeing you are going to put the battery in the boot an ordinary one makes sense. The project Z is going to get an Odyssey which will be located under the passenger seat, but it won't be a daily driver with lots of electrical gear to run.

Not sure about where in T'ville but do a search on Odyssey batteries on here as there have been a few threads (and some mixed opinions).

im my experience they are good. in a bike that has an issue with flatting batteries it has been good at cranking when low on charge and takes awhile to die. been in the bike at least 6yrs when other batteries have lasted 12months at most (last battery in it exploded when trying to start the bike haha). they may also be able to be mounted horizontally because they're a gel battery (not sure though).

ive got the pc545 , motorbike size .... starts the car no problems.
any small drain will flatten it over a week or two though (car alarms etc)
its just like any other battery , small = small reserves , big = big reserves.
just gotta decide what you really need.

I have a MJT680 - It was purchased for it's tiny size - Not much room left in my engine bay. It has awesome Cold Cranking Amps for it's size, but the trade off is it's rather pathetic Reserve Capacity, but that is to be considered for it's size.

My GPS Tracker will flatten my Battery in 4 Days if I left it unplugged - I made a custom charging cable that plugs into just behind the Grille and I just park it in the garage and plug it into the float charger if I am not driving it for more than 3 or 4 days..

Before the Tracker was fitted I used to get about 2 weeks before it started to get too low to start the car.

I am relocating mine to the boot now - and have gone for a Delkor Calcium Battery...

What can I expect to pay for one? My starter is a 0.4hp unit, so pissy to say the least and I have no alarms or stuff like that.

I paid $180 for my 680MJT - but apparently I got it really cheap ??

I was offered $150 for it 2nd hand ( still with 2 yrs warranty though)

Seconded for quick draining with an alarm, because the car is a daily driver, i went back to a conventional battery with a better reserve capacity, and kept the small odyssey battery for track events.

Can't remember the battery model, sorry. I paid about $180 for it a few years back though.

They lose 2 to 4 percent a day with no load at all. Just one of those things.

Get a good calcium battery. It will be heavier but last you a lot longer.

btw. is it ok to just hook up a supacheap trickle charger to your car battery once on month overnight?

Only if it is voltage limited.

ie the cheap supercheap shit is not voltage limited and will kill the odyssey faster than anything.

Just put the thing behind the drivers seat or on the passenger side of the car. Strap it down well and go from there.
