Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
Now that's actually not that bad an idea ... except that the Great Unwashed probably expect a 944 to go a lot better'n it does.

I dont see a lot of front wheel drives as huge sleepers, purely because big power results in lots of dead and expensive gearbox issues, often with no possible way to rectify the situation.
I guess a sleeper needs to be able to move from the line, on the street or strip, and the way a lot of front wheel drives do leave the line probably leaves a little bit to be desired. I think some of the cars mentioned would struggle to do better than a mid to high 14, which I guess in my definition isnt going to be huge sleeper material, especially with the pace of current family sedans.
get something turbo from the states and slot it straight in. theres a VW Country Buggy on it's side on the way out of Redenberry Bridge in Singleton if anyone is up for a challenge.
enough with the weirdmobiles already! sleeper doesn't necessarily mean ugliest fucking thing on the road!
Oh, and no vans!

my neighbours called the cops...... not because of the sound of me working in the garage was too loud, but because i taped a cardboard box to my back, covered my self in vaseline and pretended i was a snail on their lawn
My old escort...wasnt the quickest thing out there, but suprised a fair few people
Old Volvo 240 ...mate had one with a 308, what a slepper that was, was pretty quiet and sounded like an old ovlov with an exhuast leak...different story when the throttle was mashed
Is a slepper anything like a slipper ? My slippers are quiet too. But when I plant it I loose traction on the shiny wooden floor. Word, bro.
But I was gonna suggest Mark1 escort too...In that old gold colour, with the chrome hubcaps... Should have room to throw a reasonable power plant in there.

I don't understand the purpose of cats. If it wasn't for the internet needing them, they would be obsolete.
maybe I should go back to the stock looking beetle idea. I already have a good slice of what I would need.
