I ALWAYS wanted a Defender....up until I drove one. So I say to you, go drive one and see for yourself.

My experience: ride was shocking (in every sense of the word), seating was awful, considering the size of the bastard you'd think there'd be more room. The steering wheel is like the lid off a garbage bin, and there's barely enough room for your fingers between it and the driver's window. If you dont have power steering, you smash your elbow on the window trying to haul it around.

That's not even mentioning reliability issues. They are by all accounts probably the best thing for getting to inaccessible places, but fuck, unless you had a farm and went everywhere at 20, you just wouldn't do it.
Turns out, far too much has been written about great men and not nearly enough about morons

Land Rover are at 65 Epping Rd?

      That's the old Microsoft building.

I've been in one once. IMO an early 90's Pajero or Hilux feels like the space shuttle in comparison. A space shuttle that doesn't crash at least.

I do about 1200km a week in defenders as they're our work vehicles. Everything Secoh said is correct, the boss has 4 and everyone one is different

        More "homebuilt" than "handbuilt".
