Yeah, I'm itching to do it. Have the cash ready to go....... but as mentioned in evo9+mods post, I'm also concerned about warranty. Don't want to get caught out by it.

Anyway back to the VE series, I still think it's quite remarkable that we have a 4.97 sec 0-100 australian production car, Ford for all it's mucking about with F6/GT etc still isn't producing these sorts of number stock.

    :worship: Kudos to HSV! :worship:

I guess it really doesn't matter with fuel prices the way they now, I really can't bring my self to be paying $100+/week for fuel. As for driving one I think I probably will need to go drive one just to see what it feels like.

In that first pic it looks like an Astra that's lost it's centre caps.

        Thumbs down.

I think someone on another forum ran a 12.9 in an F6, which is sub 5sec 0-100.

Remarkable? With a 6.0L engine, wide tyres its not hard!

Stock? Or with minor mods like more boost exhaust etc. From the reviews I read I don't think they actually got the F6 to dip under 5 secs.

And your point is? EVO/STI run 235/225 respectively and are AWD drive, R8 is 275 and only drives the rear wheels. As a comparison a 911 runs 295's so why no bitching about Porsches running uber wide tyres. 6.0L, well good on'em, They are proving that push-rods and displacement can overcome hi-tech.

Not bitching about the Porsche because they do under 5 seconds with half the capacity.

Also i was suggesting capable engine and grip means good times.

It was stock boost, I think it had an airfilter and sticky tyres?

This seem to be the standard line, they do it with half the capacity blah blah blah, well that car has a sticker price of 240K versus what 60K.

Give the Holden boys the credit where it's due, they have joined an exclusive club and the reaction is: meh whatever. If it was an Audi or a Merc people would creaming themselves over it, but when it's our own Australian product, no one seems to give a shit.

i will give Holden credit when credit is due. I'm not going to look at the specs of the HSV and decide if its a good car or not.

Once the HSV does do the claimed 4.96s 0-100km/h i will give them credit.

I am sure that HSV is waiting with baited breath for your credit

                          The show was pretty interesting.

The biggest advance is surely stability control. A first for an Australian built car. Looked to work very well too, especially on dirt. That will surely be the way of the future for all cars, sooner or later.

That test drive thing that some marketing tool posted in the video section was sort of shown too, they looked pox on the track though. It's a big leap forward for Aussie design and build from a clean sheet. Kudos.

The other thing on that promo was the four post rig they built for rough road nvh testing. holy shit they punished the car on it! If they truly used that to sort out long term rattles and squeaks then this will be one solid car. Looking forward to buying one in ten years when I can afford it :D

What fuel economy does the Porsche get on the highway and around town?

Sure, the Porsche is 3x the price, 1/50th the practicality, just as fast, depreciates at a similar rate however looks a lot better and most likely is better on a track.

Two different cars for two different markets yet both are as fast as each other. Whats the issue?

Despite it being an hour long add, there was some some interesting content, like the four poster rig that muz mentioned, that gave a bit of an insight into the development of any new car. I'm sure there are similar processes at every manufacturer.

What would have made it more interesting would have been seeing some of the problems and failures they had along the development path, and how they were resolved.
