    Ta22 not stock engine?!?!

I just bought a Celica Ta22 1974 and have been doing a bunch of work on it, moslty cutting out rust. well in the Engine bay then engine has 3T writen on it.
I am trying to get parts for it but Toyota tells me that it isnt a stock engine for the Celica Ta22. So what is in my engine, it isnt a 3t-gte I have allready check up on that, any one have any Ideas ?
    I can send Photos.
    thanks

Standard they have a 1.6l 2T engine, the 3T is a 1.8l version of the same engine from the T18.

Yup the 3T swap was a common one "back in the day", hell my first car was a TA22 with a 3T in it, way back in 94. It has a longer stroke which takes the swept volume out to 1770cc, and being an early 80's engine it has lots of emissions crap (including lower compression) which means it doesn't actually make any more power than the older 2T. A friend of mine had an otherwise identical TA22 with the original 2T in it, and we were always neck-and-neck in a race.

I later swapped in a twincam 2T-G which made my little TA22 the fastest car in the world. It's funny how your perspective changes over the years isn't it.
