    Alloy rim repairs?

I need a rim repaired off my mate's race car. Its got a bit (ie couple of cms) of a chunk out of the edge. Any recommendations in the Sydney area?

He thinks it could be magnesium. Would that make a difference?

I don't think you could actually repair Magnesium wheels.

Also whilst there ask for an xray - you usually will find that there are other 'stress fractures' that the eye can't see...

It's going to be a relatively expensive wheel (or simply not available any more) if it's significantly cheaper to repair than replace. Nissan are charging less for a new '04/'05 Maxima rim than I was quoted to for a rash-removal & respray.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

A friend had the opposite with 18inch XR6T wheels, cheaper to repair two then replace one.

i'm stuck with repairing my rims.

could only find one other rim the same in aus and it was a 5 stud not a four.

i'm never buying different rims again !!! gonna stick to common ass rims !!!

If they are genuine magnesium, Dave Mawer is probably the guy to speak to, at Mawer engineering in orangeville (about 15-20mins west of oran park) he does a lot for the super taxi rims.

There is a series 2 just up the road from me with chasers (they look to be about 15inches). Pity it stays in the garage most of the time, it has one nice sounding ported motor!
