      38km is a total pisstake

i wouldnt have accepted the car back

like i said in a previous post whenever i put my car in for service i drive it right into the middle of the workshop and take a flash photo infront of everyone of the km's and every rim

what i would do is make up a reason to get a warrenty on something (eg, undo a bolt in the interior a bit and complain about a random rattle) then tell dealer your interested in upgrading to a new 4x4, ask if u can have one of them for the day because your keen on buying it, then take it to bribie island and do some surf runs and bring it back covered in sand and salt

Yeah. No one EVER park a nice car at a Valet car park. You are a chump if you do! :knock:

(I used to work at one)

this begs for a aca/tt story

install a camera and gps unit and let the dealers go

38km is seriously around an hour driving - either someone used it to drive home and back or something like that because even a joyride can't really explain it

Maybe Morgs was taking someone for a test drive?

Lolzers maybe it's best not to look at the kays when you drop it off. One less thing to worry about :D

hold the phone....it was an OIL and FILTER change...

Why was it road tested at all unless you requested them to look at something?

Ok, spoke to the DP this morning, he spoke to the service guys and got back to me. They said they did a couple of trips to virginia to search for an exhaust rattle which I mentioned. Virginia is probably 4km away.

To duplicate the exhaust rattle which comes about at low rpm under load all you would need to is short shift and load it up. not required to go to virginia or anything.

The rattle is still there by the way, the DP was most apologetic and said in his 40 years he's never had someone do 40k's on a test drive.

He has offered to take the car back again, give me a courtesy car, and look for the rattle again. The service advisor assures him they were not out joy riding despite the fact it may look that way being the type of car it is.
                I got nothing

Exactly, start it, check for leaks, stop it and check the oil level again.... Job Done!

no offence, but to me an MX5 just doesn't seem the kind of car they would 'take for a thrash' considering they probably get MPS's and rx8's etc through there quite regularly?
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

Grease monkeys do it with Commodore Exec... why should it be any different on any cars?

Drive an MX5 (particularly an SE), an RX8, and an MPS back to back and tell me, given the choice, which you'd like to take for a fang.

I know when I was doing this at Willowbank Mazda drive day, the MX5 is the one I was lining up for again and again, and it was just a normal NC.

Easily carried about 10k an hour faster through a corner. Even Dick Johnson agreed.
                        I got nothing

its a turbo, not a princess spec mx5

it would be a hoot to drive!

For an oil & filter change.

                              100 mtr max.

From the parking bay to the service bay and back.

No need to check anything on road.

Reminds me of the first 'service' It had after I bought my Z3 2.8L............I bought it knowing it had a worn clutch (which I am still babying*mostly * 8 months later)

I reset the economy and average speed in the cruise control just as I got out of the car to leave it....It did appear to have a electrical generating problem as the head lights would drastically dip when a/c came on at night.......they changed the A/C pully first then installed a new Alternator they had the vehicle for almost two weeks.......

It came back with economy on 20litres/100km. (lots of full noise acceleration to get it to do that) and I could feel the difference in the grip of the clutch! *I pointed it out to one of the service controllers* and have not seen it come back at this economy since. But I have to say they do look after us...any issues and you're phoned immediately....and car always comes back immaculate!
