The most dangerous risk of all - the risk of spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later. - Randy Komisar.
Does anything think this decision might have been made soon, but didn't want to announce anything until after the race?
Regardless, RIP
A guy at work who was at the race has been saying that apparently Mark Porter died instantly, and that they didn't announce his death until Sunday evening so as not to take away from the race. That sounds a little far fetched to me, but he seemed to take it as gospel

erm, look at my first post in this thread. I kinda heard the same thing.
As much as I think/know such conspiracy stuff is bullshit.
Personally, i think he was put on life support, to keep him alive until after the race, from the sounds of it, he was pretyt much dead there, and was revived once already..
I do know for a fact, that he did pass away in the mornong of sunday in hospital, but, the announcement was put off until after the race was complete...
Its a shame that happens, i know the same thing happened when possum borne was killed, his death was only announced two days after the fact...
Its a shame event organisers put the event before announcing the death of someone, in possums case, race to the sky, and in porters, bathurst, all be it, brockies memorial race..
Saddly, whats done is done, RIP mark porter, may he be remembered and not forgotten, like brockie..
