The only hills in Darwin are around Gardens Park, along stretches of Gilruth Ave and East Point Rd, and that short little stretch (Hughes St?) that goes from next to the wharf road up Harry Chan Ave.

I don't think you'd cope with those three spots for a few hundred kliks of driving.

      1. Dyno engine then change filter
      2. Dont drive at constant revs untill its done about 1000km and change filter
      3. Drive the ring off it put shitty fuel in it wind up the boost
      4. ?????
      5. Start rebuild thread

Steps 1 and 2 should be followed, 3-5 are optional, the process of dyno tuning should account for the initial critical "running in".

In regards to motorbikes for example on the road no matter how hard you get up the engine from the word go it will be a pittence in comparison to what they are designed for ie use on a race track

Likewise if you build up a performance car engine it "should" be built to be run hard ie no matter how hard you try to get up it on the road it won't be pushing it...

(Of course redlining the crap out of it from word go isn't exactly advisable but ya know don't baby the thing)

Let Dale run it in on the dyno. Easy, controllable, fast, precise. All for an extra hour's dyno time. No brainer imho.

                varying load
                no lugging
                no high boost
no redlining (e.g. bouncing off rev limiter)
                no sustained coasting/cruising
no sustained idle (particularly when firing up for first time)

hold the phone....don't be doing too much driving on the "tune" that blew your last motor...

If it were me, tow from engine builder to dyno tuning place, dale starts it, drives onto dyno and runs it in there....

the tune on the computer is fine. I was the one who fucked it with the wrong fuel.

Good advice, just wait another day or so until Dale gets there.

Be thankful you don't have to run pre-mix like I will have to

just dont run it at the same revs for ages for 1500km

apart from that, everything that everyone else tells you is total bullshit in relation to cars

besides, it's a fkn torana motor

                                Diesel?

Must be some pretty shitty fuel to blow up an engine
