    Immobiliser / Security

    Good morning all,

I've just picked up a nice low km JDM Version 6 WRX STi. I'm aware that the older model WRX's were known as 'the stolen generation' and I'd like to avoid my new car adding to the generalisation.

I've done a search through the archives and haven't found much discussion on what is considered to be a good security system for such a car.

    Any suggestions?

I suppose I'm still considered a noob so smart arse comments are expected!

    Cheers

Being a JDM car it won't have a factory ecu immobilizer so I would be getting something fitted asap.
The most important thing with any alarm/immobiliser is to have it fitted effectively. 90% of immobilisers I have seen on Subarus are wired straight into the ignition switch harness on the barrell side. Simply plugging another barrell in will start the car in this case. Get a reasonable system fitted properly(fitting should cost more than the unit) and you should be fine.

Oh BTW, Brant sucks the wang.

yep, Nothing short of a good qaulity tracking system if you want to feel safest. Satellite or Terrestrial based, it's your choice based on where you live and regulary drive/park etc..

Will not only give you piece of mind, but also make your insurance company so happy that they may give you a discount or reduced excess etc..
