    Windscreen Rubbers

I've been searching for a rear windscreen rubber for the Lancer for longer then I care to remember and am almost out of places to ask... anyone got any suggestions? So far I have tried the following places (and probably more that I have forgotten)

    Rare Spares
Spectrum ( AKA, Old Rubber Co.)
    Scotts Old Auto Rubber
    Windscreens O'Brien

I have an old rubber to use as a template, but it has been useless so far

I saw these folks with a stall at the Qld Classic Jap show

      The Rubber Shop
      Enoggera (BNE)
      3354 2053 (rubber@bigpond.net.au)

They seemed to have a lot of samples on display plus they appear at most swap meets up here.

Damn it, there is a big one in melbourne too that only deal in old rubber seals for cars. I remember seeing it from the train when heading into the city one day on the cranbourne line, damn it, its right on the tip of my tounge. Hopefully one of the melbourne plebs will know the one im talking about.

These guys are proving to be helpful, although they are in the wrong state! They are not 100% certain that they can get what I need, but they are willing to assist which is more then most places.

Yep, they even share part numbers. Clark Rubber gets stuff from Spectrum, they will openly admit it and send you there way if you ask any questions.

Dammit, The Rubber Shop uses the same suppliers as Spectrum, they said if Spectrum couldn't help, neither could they.

Grippy directed me to Rare Spares...

So I'm back to having no idea where to get the damn thing

many years ago, spectrum said that they could help to make a new shape, as long as the profile was common, and it was worth their effort (price or numbers)... i never did get them to make a KE15 rear rubber tho... or chase it up fully...
they'd probably need the window to get the shape....

I took a rubber to them on Friday so they could match it up, they didn't have anything

Anyone got any suggestions on the normal side of making a rubber out of eurothane?

How close is the size of the glass to the size of the aperture in the body?
I ask because the standard Volvo 242 front & rear windscreen fitments are very close to each other; the rubber looks the same, the trim on the rubber looks the same. I do know that the large raised knobbly rubber & metal-trim on the front adds to wind resistance, so I enquired into getting 1992-1993 240 front window-trim fitted 'cos it's a flush-fit ... and while that all turned out to be too difficult, I got a not-Windscreens-O'Brien guy to come & fit the windscreen & he just used a generic piece of rubber which comes in a really long roll; it's the same stuff they used for VL Commodores apparently.
Now, I'm not sure how the rear window fits in the Lancer, but if it can be attached in a similar way (that butyl tape stuff?) and the glass itself isn't much smaller than the hole in the body, then maybe a glass fitter can use generic rear rubber flush-mounting trim & fit the glass in a similar fashion to a more modern windscreen?
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.
