Yep. I co-drove for John in the ARC from 1999-2004. How do you know him?

I'm a mates with Cam, Simon, young Tom and those guys. I met you at Hilleng a couple of times when you guys were working on the Evo. I was likely milling around having something welded or fixed on my kart. I was driving a red Peugeot 405 Mi16 or a silver AE86 at that time.

      Cal.

While Jon has painted a pretty rosey picture...his costs so far get him to 50% of the value of the car...& its not even in or running yet. Oh, its taken over 6 months to get the bits here too.

I drove Jons car before it was Jons the first time at Morgan park. Thats probably 7-8 years ago...many hamfisted owners have passed over it & I seriouosly doubt that Id even recognise it as the same car to drive. It was a nice tight chuckable little thing though.

        Id probably buy a suzuki.
Actually it is in & running... ive driven it up and down my driveway.

I'm in no rush, just a car for the little lady to drive around in once we get rid of the WRX.

FWIW - You drove the car in 2001.... you can have a drive again once its redo'd and see how its aged :D

ViNcEnXo - Thats why its cheap.... If your willing to take the risk of a potential lemon..... i'd also checkout http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/ if you have any other in depth questions (use the search).

            That it is.

Sorry boys, back on topic. Surely with those kms it shouldn't be too much trouble.

            Cal.

I have to admit, I am somewhat frightened of it, but as I said I'll drive it and see how I go...

I'd much rather a good little Suzi... I'd just hate to be on here in 6 months time going FUCK! this has gone wrong where can I find this part, WTF does this mean... ah shit I'm spending this much money... to have at the end of the day a slow little hatch, not a 400hp Skyline like someone else is doing...

The problem, or so it seems to me, is that you're looking for a dull cheap little hatch that's also exciting.
I fell into a similar trap whilst looking for a car for my sister.
If you can just accept the dullness, you'll probably have more chance of finding something; well, that's how it seemed to me anyhoo. Stoop to a Pulsar, they're pretty cheap for their age c/f anything else that's got the same level of reliability. Or even ... and it pains me to say it ... a Lancer (yeah, I know that gut-feel says they're complete shitters, and they make a 1997 Swift feel like it's carved from stone - but so many owners say they're reliable).
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Ok, I went and I drove it, and I walked away.

It drove really well, certainly went hard, that is a great little donk. Handling was very vague coming out of the MX5 though. There seemed to be some electrical gremlins, and the interior was a tad rattly and had been selasticed around all the joints, possibly in an attempt to cure the rattles, I'm not sure... I guess my head ruled over the heart... and I'm going to continue in the search of a 'dull' vehicle... it really is a more practical approach for what we want it for, although the boyracer in me wanted something like the Cupra, I don't want to be fixing it, I don't want to have to worry about what is going to go wrong next... I guess, I whimped out.

It's hardly a surprise it was vague compared to your MX5. It was brand new. It's fairly likely the suspension bushes and shocks could need a look at. So once again, why isn't she getting an early MX5?
