A friend just smashed his 306 gearbox, that cost him a good $3.5K to get sorted..oh..and everytime something breaks he's up for BIG bucks.

you must know people who know people who know other people who get you cheaper parts cos from what i've seen they're bloody expensive.

That aside they're great little cars

      1300 dollars for a peugeot A/C compressor
      600 dollars... installed for a MX-5 one.

      Don't ask how I know.
Ohh and if you want to get into I'll start listing the parts that are "cheap".

LOL should have stuck a 2nd hand box in it for $200. Don't blame the car for your mates indiscretion with his cash. Call Mazda, Nissan, Toyota or any Jap manufacturer and tell them you gearbox is "smashed" and I would like another fitted please.

You can't honestly tell me you paid $1300 for an A/C compressor?? I think I have 2 under my house for those things you could have had. A good mate of you an I just paid $3000 for an entire Mi16. He's about to wreck it for the donk and I doubt he'll be using the compressor. So there's another one.

        Cal.

Both of those compressor were new parts. Ohh and I didn't pay it since I don't own a peugeot. But I know someone that does and has paid that much.

            "Someone" is made of money.

Did your parents think Pugs were expensive cars to own?

Sorry, i was referring to a GTi6 gearbox (6 speed). Even then i'd like to know where you got a good condition gearbox for the S16. Is that a price that EVERYONE who owns this model pug can get onto? I doubt it.

Being realistic here, i've always know them to be exxy..and parts are hella more expensive then Mazda (the old man has owned several rotors from new). IMO that was a poor comparison.

That aside here's another mates GTi6

Just talking from my experience. I owned both a Pug and a Mazda at the same time for quite a few years and that is my experience. The GTi6 gearbox is a different kettle of fish.

I know that car from aussiefrogs.com

He's not made of money that for certain, or at least he isn't now.

I dunno about expensive. But they weren't cheap, and they are definitely "over them" when stuff breaks it gets spendy and you can garauntee something will break at some stage.

yeah that's fair enough. Agreed with you on the GTi6 gearbox, that's a right royal k*nt to find at a decent price.

Everytime i wanna go alex (green pug in the pic) he gets all paranoid about his box and granny shifts.

Its weird comparing costs of different bits of different cars...you will find some bits on one car are super cheap while others are like poison.

Did you know a 3rd gear synchro for a type R integra is nearly 3 times the cost of the supposedly really flash piston?

If you were rebilding an engine you'd say honda are as cheap as chips...if it was a gearbox you'd take out a 2nd mortgage

Still got the silver one. Wanna buy it? Good for the misses or your mum (should be more reliable than an Astra).

Mrs has Corrolla. Corrolla is a good car for Mrs's. Astra turd has gone. Mum has the new Forester.

Well ran into the bloke who bought that car Vinniegenxo, turns out it was cheap as it was a bit of a roughie.... he bought it though as it was cheap.

He has owned it for 3 weeks and has already had it tilt tray’d back to get work done to it, the clutch pedal box cracked and fell apart (common problem, mine has already been out and welded)..... Looks like you were wise to keep on walking.

On another note I sold my Ibiza last night, just decided I really don’t have the time to finish it so someone got a bargain .. Came out a few $’s in front of what it owned me but just glad I got space back in my garage…. Too many cars.

Lesson learned - I don’t think I’d ever own a 1990+ euro car again (only if it was new under dealer warranty - and be murdered on resale).
