Mining / Exploration Jobs

Thanks fellas. Most of the guys I work with are on around 85-100K. So I would want a significant pay rise to leave my house and my life in Brisbane, specially if I was still to be working in signaling (which I am sick of big time).
I wouldn't mind a fly in fly out job if it meant I could still live here, and just go away for a week or few weeks at a time.
I would be willing to study if it meant a changing the field I work in providing it would lead to over 100K a year without working too much overtime. Exploration sounds quite interesting, unlike railway signaling.10.83 @ 125

I can't speak for other companies.... but not really. Any sort of experience with remote work/4WD maintenance and basic mechanical ability/work on minesites/trades etc will all help with work like this. Its a pretty specialised (but by no means difficult/hard work) field, and most of your skills required will come from training/learning on your feet.
Keep an eye on this thread though, hopefully will be some movement in a little while.

If you're in Adelaide or Perth there's a certificate of Geoscience run out of the TAFE system, not sure on it's availability interstate.
If you're looking to get into the exploration game and have no experience whatsoever it will be pretty good for you. It's everything from basic geology and geophysics, IT, GPS and mapping, mechanics and welding, and a bunch of topics that wont make sense until you learn a few things.
Course is 6months for cert3 and 2 years for diploma, most people get poached off by companies well before they finish the diploma.1983 Landcruiser (Gertrude) and not 1 but 2 1984 Scorpions
