      I disagree with the 'surge tank doesn't have to be tall and thin' thing. OK, it doesn't have to be two feet tall and an inch diameter, but I assume this was written for a race class where turbos don't exist and efi is uncommon.

          Stumbled across this today, columns by Pat Clarke who is a judge for Formula Student/FSAE and has built successful racing cars. There's a fair bit of content specific to Formula Student but also a lot of good advice about design:
