Excels - yep, forgot about that one. Doesn't really count. They were complete noobs trying to race at a sprint.

didn't hear about the others, but CAMS have never let clubbies or open wheelers on the track with tin tops in competition. AASA should really follow suit.

aasa are letting the open wheelers run at the sprints now I think.

the last time i raced at QR there was clubman style car that ran 1 race with the sedans and it was bloody hard to see him. he asked to be moved for the next race

Clubmans! I had one at Lakeside come up the inside of me in the Karoussel when I'm about to turn in to take the usual exit line and I look down and here is this little thing poking his nose in. So, resisting asserting my manliness with some reluctance, I lifted off and let him out of the trap he had set for himself. No incar camera that time, pity.

Maybe you whould have waved him through on the straight just before that?
being in a much faster but lower powered car can be very frustrating.

From memory his lap times were no better than mine. Anyway the point is that cars like that do not mix with usual sized production type cars.

topgear racing is definitely low impact compared to cams racing
1 have had 1 minor rub which was no big deal
I got hit once, but i spun in from of about 20 cars, so my own fault really.
The Corolla/Clubman accident happened on the exit of Karussel. I exited the corner to see it unfolding in front of me. Very scary.

I have also seen a couple of guys make contact at QR in a similar situation to what Richard described with the clubman.

At the last Open practice at Lakeside I went out with the open wheelers to even up the numbers and it was incredible how quickly they caught me.

lakeside 50th anniversary (April 9/10) had closed body sports cars running with open wheelers ie F2 and F3, clubbies, my prod sports Dato, a Lotus 23B ( sorta like a mini
can-am car) and a few slow ones as well, 16 car field the three front runnrs were lapping them within four laps. Massed grid rolling starts 2 wide in formation.

oh BTW it was a "noisy" meeting, ie: no sound meters, the next three "Anniversary" meetings are the same, but for older cars, July 22nd is Sports cars, then next is GroupC and A tourers, then next is Formula cars
if you get this far after reading the above, good on you!
If i make spelling mistakes, syntax errors, or just mss letters in words, it is because i am lw vision/vision impaired.
Dont drive or race no more. Bit of a cunt of a thing.

Callum, saw you out at the QR Top Gear races. That bloody Cobra is a monster and the Capri isnt far off. Same insane times there.

What tires are you running? Most of the field seem to run slicks now?

Was great racing. You car is looking great.

Any chance you can clear up what events at Lakeside are designated for the noisy events?

Had a run on the national circuit today and managed a best of 1.25.1

Did 145km on the track which was great value for $120. Split the driving between two people.

Um yep, as stated, it is the four lakeside anniversary events only, dates are listed on qr,s site, events are aimed at older type cars, but when it comes down to low entry levels, they may let in some not so older classic type cars.
Could be worth a phone call direct to them, prior to entries closing.
Races are in a massed formation rolling grid start, lot of fun too
