Ran the Mt Cotton Hillclimb again on the weekend with the goal of braking into the 49's. Ran mid 50s on Saturday, and finally got there yesterday with runs of 49.72, 49.19, 49.39, a PB of 49.11, an a 49.13

Here's a clip of some of the runs:

Managed to stay clear of the nuts this time

nice work! For those who aren't too familiar with Mt Cotton, anything under 50 sec is getting pretty serious for tin tops on semis. Good consistency in those times too - and that's not the easiest thing to do at Mt Cotton.

Thanks for that. I was pretty happy with it. The 49.39 was a stuff-up with forgetting 3rd gear in the first loop, but I made up for it with a good final sector.

If I put my best sector times together for the day, I should have been able to get a 48.59, so now I've got a good target for the next meet.

yeah, still a strange crash. some sort of brake issue I guess?
Its Greg Boyle's RB26 S15, the same guy who spun wildly in the braking zone at Temora 1000m.

Yeah what the fuck happened there? Pulling hard right under brakes?

spose if the pedal went to the floor i dunno what else i'd do different ! seems like he was already crapping himself as he didnt try to stay on the track, just aimed to shortcut across.

What could happen that would give you solid 100% pedal at Hungry and one on the floor 30 seconds later?

very fuggin weird indeed. no heavy bumps or kerbs to rattle over to snap a brakeline or something.
notice he didnt revmatch the downshift for hungry at all (into 2nd!)

possible his foot slipped off the pedal? has happened to me

Was out at Lakeside again on Friday.
Got a new PB of 1:01.54 in my second session, then had one of the S700's suffer a belt separation in the following session. Still did a 1:01.81 with the stuffed tyre.

Put the KU36's on to finish the day, and set myself a challenge of beating my time set in March on the old Dunlop slicks of 1:04.68. Just got there in my 5th session with a 1:04.64....

During the day we had at least 4 similar failures of the same tyres. Belt separated all round the full circumference of the tyre, all Kumho S700 slicks.

Even had one blow out coming out of Shell corner....

So good day for my times, not so good otherwise....

let me guess - belts seperated at the inner edge on the fronts only? All 3 of my front S700's did that.

Right on the money. Will take it back, along with the other, and see if we get any comment from Kumho
