When we tried Kumhos we had loads of them delaminate. They are however faster than almost anything else.

I like Kumho road tyres, and would have no hesitation in using the KU36 again as cheapo track tyres - they're tough as nails. But the S700 slick is just dangerous. Blowouts at Lakeside are not a good thing. I only got 2 sprint meets out of my S700s before they started popping which makes them the most expensive rubber I ever bought - I normally get at least 2 years from a set of track tyres! And that's before you factor in the panel damage one of the blowouts caused in the resulting off. From what I hear of the V70a, I wouldn't touch them with a 20ft pole either. I thought about taking mine back but had no desire to put another set of grenades on my car, so just put it down to experience and bought the Federal FZ201s.

From the old Tassco website forum, which had been shut down last time I checked because too many people were airing their dirty laundry, Kumho were using every reason (excuse) under the sun for the problem. Too much camber, too little camber, too much pressure, too little pressure etc etc. The Kumho specs on the V70A says they're a wet weather tyre and using them in the dry will overheat them causing delamination and is not covered.
I've never used any Kumho product, so don't have any first hand experience with them, but I am the customer from hell when it comes to tyres so tend to do heaps of homework on them for my application before I purchase anything. Over the last 10 years I've used Michelin slicks, Dunlop D11 slicks, Dunlop Mini Cup Slicks, Hoosier R6 Semis, RE55 semis, Falken Azenis semis, Dunlop 01J semis and way back tried Bridgestone F1's the road tyre, and I've never had ANY tyre fail for any reason. Make of that what you will.

Was the last round of Tighe Cams Hillclimb Series at Mt Cotton yesterday. After a great tussle with Piers Harrex, I took out my first class win in the E30. Did a personal best of 48.12, a full 0.99 sec quicker than my previous times here in October. Here's the video of my fastest run, the last of the day. I can still see areas for improvement, so there's more in the car to come.
