He drove for a lap with the tyre slapping the body, then said it didnt feel right. How many times do we see a car puncture a tyre then have to retire from smashing the floor up.

Agree. In normal circumstances a penalty would be justified but the off track part Vettel used was used by others throughout the race with no penalties. Presumably it gave them an advantage to use it, if so, why was Vettel the only one penalised?

Oh it's OK to use that off track part except when passing? Nonsense.

Boring race, Webber was never really on the pace. Lost a lot of time on the first few laps on the hard tyre, Massa seemed to be the only one who had a shit start and actually made his way back to a reasonable spot. Grosjean who seemed to suffer less damage then Massa early on just seemed to do nothing. Personally I think they went too long with Ricciardo in his first stint they should have pulled him in when he was P6 instead of letting him drop back to P9 before stopping.

Sauber once again looked good, both drivers bagged some solid points. Certainly leading the mid field battle, Williams was weird, strong in qualifying and in the first stint and then Maldonaldo just went backwards not sure if the car just didn't work on the hards or what but it was a race they should have got some points.

true - but - if it had been earlier in the race, the FIA would have said that they were investigating - thats the cue for the team to fix the situation (give the place back) - an option they were not offered...

Nothing stopping Horner from getting on the blower to tell Vettel to do so.

How is that fair punishment? They cant set that as a precedent at worst having to give the place back. Drivers would just play the odds, if it doesnt go their way "Oh well we just have to give the place back anyway"

That Torro Rosso is just plain slow. Dan out qualified it in the wet but the second he got to the dry race the cars just drove right past him.

I'm not saying it was Dan's fault but I think they lost a chance of finishing maybe 1 -2 places higher by holding him out in the first stint, he was losing bulk time and fast with others on fresh tyres. Instead they left him out and he dropped back to behind Vergne who had pitted early and was nowhere near him prior to the stop.

But dropping 4 places is a harsh penalty for a non-dangerous move.

It is consistent though. If the place isn't given back then it's a drive through. Which is generally 20-25 seconds.
