Q: Sebastian, you got very close to Fernando and then there was Lewis Hamilton in there as well. How much did that upset the rhythm of things?
SV: That was not nice of him. I don’t see the point why he’s trying to race us. If he wants to go fast he can drop back, find a gap and go fast there. But it’s a bit stupid to disturb the leaders. He was a lap down so I don’t see the point anyways. I think that potentially lost us the position to Jenson. Because soon after that we pitted, I think only two or three laps after that. So yeah, I think all in all the pace was there but it was extremely difficult once we were close to Fernando, and also in the end closer to Jenson. We seemed to lose quite a lot and not stay close enough to really try something for the following corner or to get close at the straights to try something under braking, so that seemed to be the problem. Yeah, so… ah, not entirely happy. I think we could have been a little bit better in clean air if we would have, yeah, been in clean air for most of the race. But that wasn’t the case, so all in all I think we did a good race, especially a good recovery at the end, looking after the tyres and getting past Jenson. It was more a less a question of when to pass him as his tyres were is quite poor shape and he was struggling a lot. So happy to take second in the end.

haha, have a whinge. Lewis was lapping quicker than Seb so about the only thing he did (and quite well) was psyche Seb out a bit. Suck eggs.

Looks like Button's car development input is starting to pay off, that's if you believe that recent story

Hamilton, though, wasn't too impressed with the German's comments, saying he made the move in a bid not to hamper Button as he closed in on Vettel.

"It doesn't really bother me what he says," Hamilton told the Daily Mirror. "I guess it shows his maturity.

"I don't think I've made any silly decisions throughout the race. I had nothing to gain apart from staying out of the way of my team-mate.

"I never give up, so I'm not going to back off and let everyone past me when I've got the pace to go past the guy in front."

FRred has a pretty decent lead. Webbers race was so fucking disappoint. He struggled for pace from the start. A few more of those and he can kiss the championship goodbye.

I'd love Webber to win the championship but it'd be hard to argue with Alonso coming out on top, which if things keep going this way is what's going to happen. He is fucking fast and doesn't cry like a little bitch (Vettel) or beg to call a race quits if it's going bad (Hamilton).

Alonso will be someone who is remembered for years to come he is by far the most complete driver on the current grid. He is tough but fair on the track and just never seems to have a bad day by that I mean whether it be in qualifying or the race he will always go out and achieve exactly what the car he is driving is capable of doing and as evidenced by races earlier this year sometimes even more. If anyone wins the championship this year other then Webber I'd want it to be him.

Button & Vettel have a hissy fit if the car isn't perfect and pretty much resign themselves to having a shitty weekend. Webber is just moody and you seem to never know which one of him is going to turn up on the day, some days he is fucking brilliant and will beat anyone, other days he just seems to plod along and get the job done but nothing more. Hamilton will drive the wheels off a shit car and put it into places it probably shouldn't be at times but like Webber if his head isn't in the right place then he is a lost cause. They are all sensational drivers but Alonso just never seems to rock up and not be completely and utterly focused on the goal at hand even if that is fighting for one point as it may be the one that makes or breaks the championship.

That was pretty cool to see in race. Everyone in webberbox reacted to the super fast pitstop. :D

Yeah but I'm not sure if Webbers random lack of pace is a mental thing. You could physically see that he was struggling on the tyres. I reckon he is more sensitive to tyres through his driving style. He got passed by Kimi like he was in a Caterham. Even Kobiyashi passed him into the hairpin. It was pretty clear that Vettel wasn't suffering from the same tyre issues.

Part of that might also be the rule that whatever setup you run in qualifying is what you have to run in the race. Since it was wet in qualifying but dry for the race they would have to make some compromises, and so Webber's setup may have worked well in the wet but been poor in the dry. Vettel's setup reasonable in the wet and good in the dry.

Quite true, although from what I hear, there is not much difference at all between a wet and dry setup. The biggest difference being tyre pressures (which they can change before the race) and wing. I think it was Christian Horner who said that in modern F1, there really is no such thing as a 'wet' and 'dry' setup and alluded to the above.

EDIT: Has anyone got any reading material on the red bull engine map thing? Still a little confused as to what exactly they are doing with less torque in mid range. Scarbs hasnt discussed it yet.

Ah righto, ta. I thought they might soften up both ends a bit for the wet.
