motorsport is an interesting dynamic. you are employed by a team to WORK FOR THEM. yet the expectation by the public is do whatever you want as a hyper competitive driver. nobody has seen their employment contracts.

Maybe cashing 350,000 Euros a race and doing what you are asked by your boss isn't such a bad gig. getting pasted during question time by media would be a bit tough though!

if I told my boss to get fucked and did whatever I wanted, potentially sabotaging my colleagues results in the process, I don't think I'd have a job very long.

I get the team sport thing - absolutely - but they boxed him to deliberately sabotage his race - to get a competitor of his 1 extra point - if they said 'hey lets box both cars and both go for fastest lap' - no problem with it - if blessed is so good - he shouldn't need them to nobble his teammate

This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

sabotage his race? he still finished third. Hambone is in a championship position. Bottas isn't. they pit Bottas because they had the space to the next car to do so to make space for ham to do the same. if they didn't do that, then hamilton didn't have the gap to throw on a set of softs. if they told bottas earlier to just cruise then maybe HAM could have got it without the stop. but if you have the track room then why not make sure of it?

why leave the extra HAM point to chance? your team still gets the point, and you'd feel pretty stupid if HAM lost the DC because of a point that likely wasn't useful for Bottas. who else (other than your team mate in a Merc, which you control) in the top ten had a pit stop gap behind them and the machinery capable of throwing on some softs for the last few laps to attempt a fastest lap without dropping back a place (or more)?

anyone that works in a big company and reaches above middle management has to do something similar on a weekly, if not daily basis and you're not getting 5 - 50mil euros a year to do it. If bottas won a few more races a year and pushed lewis harder he'd still be there. While he's good he's not great and thats the bottom line but seriously though he cannot complain with the run he has had since leaving williams for merc. he can retire happy tomorrow in my books.

Bottas would wake up every 1 Jan and say to himself "if Rosberg became WDC, then why the fuck can't I do it?"

Wording of the announcement has always been interesting, he has said he’s working with the team for another two years. Doesn’t necessarily mean driving for them….

Yeah nah. Pretty clearly says he's driving, right here from the team themselves:
