It’s rear brakes only. To balance out rotational brakes vs energy recovery braking. the point is to maintain same retardation effort for given pedal effort even though it could be 100% one or the other causing the braking.

I'm sure I've heard of each driver on the same team opting for different brake supplier. again for the feel one is used to.

Don't know how much of a cluster that'd be for the designers, or if they're heavily regulated such that they're a bolt on swap deal.

Yeah Romain was always trying different brake combinations and mixes of suppliers because he struggled with braking.

F1 have the full 2005 Japanese race on their YouTube if anyone wants to enjoy it again. No idea how long they’ll keep it up but.

Amazingly smart if true with the intercooler oil

Ok, time for a deep dive. I never knew how the oil burn worked. Special oil? You'd think that'd introduce knock on a knock limited (boosted) engine and reduce the fuel's octane, No? Surely there is better fluid to store and pressurise in the intercooler? Methanol, water to reduce knock, fuel itself if it's not monitored at all.

Well the FIA rules don’t allow burning of engine oil after that was a thing, but they probably don’t explicitly say that You can’t have “oil” somewhere else in the system that is slowly consumed by the running process. They weigh/measure dry-sump fluid levels as part of pre and post scrutineering, they pick that up through the weight change over race distance etc.

Filling a passive component with “oil” and vaping that into the engine is sheer brilliance especially if it’s got more of a effect to allow more boost longer through helping manage combustion.

If it's a passive component, wouldn't you introduce something better than oil mist into combustion? Especially if it's still an AWIC.
I came across this article: https://drivetribe.com/p/burning-oil...QEekSDWPwYm7kQ

                    Mentions the following:
Fuel blends are very heavily guarded and regulated...Regulations have also changed on fuel for 2018 (most notably diolefins that likely reduce combustion temperature and so be more predictable)
It then goes on to say:
Commercial lubricants rely mostly on such polymers because of how they serve “the consistency in quality.” So all we have to do is find a way of letting a tiny percentage through into the cylinders.

Still amazed dumping a small amount polymers into a lubricant and calculating the "right" blow by raises the effective octane of the heavily regulated fuel.

Popped into Zandvoort for a look yesterday arvo. Old mate at the gate wasn’t letting our griswalds SUV in but there was plenty going on. Had to pull into a nearby caravan park to grab this pic. Hope they get everything done for next years race as it looks like an exciting track.

You know I’m pretty sure the biggest problem with the Renault F1 team is the loose nut at the top. Last year it was all “consolidate and challenge for podiums maybe” and a year later it’s all “there was too much expectation”... Expectation he put there FFS
Cyril Abiteboul knows Renault have underperformed in 2019 but feels people on the outside have been expecting too much of a jump from them this season.

In case this hasn't been mentioned.

Racing Point accuse Renault of preset brake bias for Ric & Hulk in Japan GP. Keen to see how this plays out, tbh if they are, I like the fact that Renault are taking more risks in these areas.

For the record, when somebody talks about the design "taking more risks", it's not normally meant to mean risk of getting caught for illegal stuff.
