This will be annoying for CAMS too, didn't they say last year when they bought the F4s that they only wanted three top series in Australia in the future, F4, GT3 and V8SC. Might only be two at this rate.
again no.... WTCC is on its way out..... the racing is boring, the cars are boring, im surprised the series has even made it this far....

This, even tho they might not be what those from a different era consider as touring cars, tin tops rules as the pinnacle of Australian motorsport, have done for a long time and won't change in my lifetime.

Also back to my snobs of motorsport comment, we have a "pretty good" touring car series with some of the best touring car teams competing in it in the world, our guys that run and develop these cars are world class, just that motorsport is not one of those top sports here, heck my money is on even the womens big bash probably had better viewership pay tv no with holding, hell netball probably had higher ratings on FTA as well. **

** haven't acutally looked at the numbers so feel free to correct me but my point of motorsport not being that big of a deal in the Australian sport landscape still stands.

Also I doubt a lot of sponsors care about raw tv numbers in motorsport they are there because of personal relationships (tax deductions) and client entertainment benefits (tax deductions).

Yeah, it's entertaining watching dickheads ramming each other off the track. But it's not racing that's for sure...

              Volvo gone.

The sport has to decide if it's NASCAR or DTM or it's own thing. At the moment some direction would be good. Couldn't agree more with the costing someone mentioned earlier. Did the 50th at Bathurst and found it good value but those Sydney round prices are genuine Perth prices.

Am spewing that I had to give up work corporate box today. I later heard that out almost everyone at my work turned the offer down. No one is interested anymore.

I do want to write an open letter to all sponsor telling them that fans aren't watching it cos it's on pay to view now.

              end rant.

                2016 V8 Supercar season - discussion thread

We can't go down the DTM route, if you think V8s are expensive then DTM is in anothe league, that's what you get for running a field full of factory run (no privateers) open wheelers with a roof. Plus the racing is boring a shit, too much aero, too much processional racing.

We have to go our own way on this, I believe. If V8 Superstars could do their own thing in Europe, yes I know it's dead but they were far more production bases and cheaper then a V8 supercar ever has been then why can't we?

Open it up to two and four doors with all engine sizes allowed. They should've done this a few years back but well it's hard to hear what the fans are saying when you got your head stuck in the sand.

I think this is the biggest factor in the decline of the category. The fanbase of this sport has ALWAYS been at the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum, not being able to see the rounds on FTA means advertisers and sponsors are losing out on the vast fucking majority of the traditional viewers.

Yeah but neither is a nigh static freight train for 35 laps. They're no where near as crash happy as they were circa 2001.

Television is just losing its relevancy generally speaking. Give me access to each round over a live stream for $10 a month and I'll be all over it. I am not going to watch it on T.V for free, I am certainly not going to pay $50 a month for the privileged!

$70 a month is the cheapest Foxtel package that gets the V8s. Even $20 a round id pay for a live stream.

Fucking shit value. $50 for a couple hours of entertainment and then repeats for the following three weeks.
