Castrol (and now BP actually) has been around since Kellys took over from Larry.

Why Rick was in the Castrol Aston @ 12 hour.
Why there's all the in-store @ BP.

It's a ginormously lucrative sponsorship.

Supercars, a prime example of corporate feeding off public funding while spending as little as possible on facilities that may benefit the ordinary racing fraternity. Well profits come first so supercars is just another example of corporate profit priority while giving the punters just enough to keep them involved.

Ampol have poured more money into 888. clearly enough to allow them to have co-title sponsorship, with the team known as ‘Red Bull Ampol Racing' from next year.

Word is the Ampol deal hasn't really changed, 888 has an agreement with Redbull to run a co-title sponsor and Caltex/Ampol is now the teams second biggest backer. While I have no doubt Ampol is throwing more money at 888 than they did previously, I wouldn't expect it to be a huge increase given they're having to rebrand all their sites to Ampol. Apparently the Ampol deal is worth somewhat less than the Holden deal.

So Phil Munday has confirmed the sale of his REC to BJR (so they stay at 4 cars), and his Mustangs going to CoolDrive Racing for Blanchard to run Slade Dog.

He hasn't really doing anything noteworthy.

Surely he, and blokes like him, would be better off taking their money to Europe and grinding it out for a year or two, to get a paid GT gig.

Not saying he can't steer, but there's only a small group that can run at the pointy end of Supercars on a regular basis (superior equipment notwithstanding). He's not one of those guys.
