Miles off the pace? I think that finishing 2 seconds behind guns like Premat, Tander, Moffat et al, is an amazing accomplishment.

They have had less than 2 hours of track time at one of the most punishing circuits on Earth. What kind of gap do you think they should be behind? They were faster than a couple of others who drive these cars all the time, so I dont really think they did too badly at all.

As TJ said, it makes a lot more sense to ease into things, than go and put it in the wall on day one. Just as any of the main drivers would do if they were having their first shot in an Indycar at IMS.

Cheers to whoever fucked up on Supercars YouTube channel and left practice one without a geoblock. Downloaded it before they changed it and watching it now as too busy this morning.

For the Indycar guys to be two seconds off the pace in the third string WAU bucket of bolts is a damn good effort so far. I still think they’ll find the fence over the weekend. Happy to be proven wrong.

‘The fucken roofs hanging off it’ hahaha. Best radio call so far. Can’t remember last time I saw roof panel pop on a Supercar like that.

3.5s and dead last that session again. I don’t know, I wouldn’t have been so cocky saying they’d come here to win when all of us could have told them they’d run dead last or very near to it.

PSA: Supercars on YT are live streaming the event, but have geoblocked anyone in Australia from viewing it.
A VPN sorts it out though...

They were 2 seconds off Moffats time in P2. That is what I thought we were referring to at the time. But I am not surprised to see the gap widen when all of the main guys did Quali sims, as they all have so much first hand knowledge of how far they can push these cars, and the track, before getting bit. Alex and James have nothing to gain, and everything to lose by trying to put in a super fast time on a Thursday. If they are still 3.5 seconds off pole tomorrow, then that wont look so good, but still not that bad given their lack of experience with everything.

I agree with you though that for them to say theyre coming out here to win probably isnt the wisest thing to do, but as you said, we all know, as do they, that those kind of comments are just bravado.

I think theyre wise enough to know that the only important thing at this point of the event is keeping the car straight. Something that a few of the regulars couldnt do.

If they're 2 seconds a lap off lead car pace then they're going to get lapped at least twice.... for perspective

Indycar boys are doing better than the Kosteckis IMO - while the times might not show it, they haven't smacked the wall and you would think both of the Kosteckis would have a considerable track time advantage at Bathurst - have previously raced Super2 there
