    Bathurst 24Hr 2020 Edition

Going to my first B12 Hr after getting hooked on the place at the 1000 last year. Two weeks to go, woo hoo! Really looking forward to the variety of cars to be seen and heard, unlike the supercars. And similar in the combined sedans races, be cool seeing all the different category cars running together.

Just loaded my car into transporter with a couple of actual IP race cars (Commodore & Monaro) doing the combined sedans support races. Shooting for 300 km/h down Conrod they say, so good luck to them tipping into the chase with no aero! Me not that brave...

Anyone else going? Any advice from those who've been before? I would have liked to camp up on the mountain, but they kick you out on Monday, and I need to stay until Thursday after race, so camping at caravan park in town.

Wasn't there some recent talk about bringing back a 24H race to Bathurst?

Thought it was too good to be true

Been a few years since I've been to the 12HR, but still my favourite race of the year. There used to be plenty of space to move around the track and see the cars from some great vantage points, but we found McPhillamy the best spot, as they have a big screen on the opposite side of the track to keep track of everything that's going on. Inside of The Chase is another great spot to spectate. Not sure if they still allow spectators to do the pit walk on Friday nights as teams practice pit stops etc, but that was always a highlight for us. Food and drinks weren't plentiful, especially away from the Pit area, so try and take your own if possible. First half hour of the race before sunrise is spectacular, and I found always best viewed from the top of the mountain. If you're heading up though, allow an hour before race time as it gets busy. Might not be as bad now that they allow camping up there though.

It has changed a hell of a lot since those days TCR, especially with the camp grounds.

We still go up each year and love the atmosphere.

Keen to go back again at some point. What's changed? For better or worse?

Maybe 3 times the campsites with top of the mountain and outside the circuit plus more elaborate setups. No more on top of the pit access, a lot more effort to get up to the top of the mountain now due to more people and paddock campers can no longer just drive up there and park for a look. There is certainly a lot more to look at but the access is reduced.

It is better though. No 12hr fan wants to hit the numbers of the Supercar weekend so it is at a good size now with a great vibe. Every year they make some improvements but then make some mistakes. E.g. last year the corporate rides during the day were fukd but this year they have canned them.

Just hit CT up when keen, we will fit you in no worries.

Should probably go this year given how close I am. Definitely a cool event, would recommend infield camping to people thinking about it.

Won’t be making the trip this year for the first time in seven years which sucks but hey at least I can watch it on tv and all the different camera angles that come with it.

Im hoping Bentley finally win this year but it’ll be hard fought between at least a dozen cars. The entrylist has shrunk with less Aussie entries and less GT4 and invitational class cars but the quality is still very high. Replacing the Class B Porsche’s with Lamborghini Super Trofeo made no sense at all considering there’s no entries. Good to see Liam Talbot announced as one of the drivers of the Trofeo Huracan as he’s a really good am driver.

Really hot weather forecast for the weekend. Plenty of sunscreen.

Any word on the support races being streamed like previous years? Website isn't too clear on coverage aside from the 12hr itself.
