As long as you know the late model 1JZ is the shittiest of all JZ engines.

Let me know. It also has a new T belt and resistor pack for 550cc injectors, which would help offset the price for the broken ancillaries. I have not inspected the engine yet. It may not even be that bad. Not sure how much shipping would be?

Dunno how late model it was, apparently it's out of a chaser, and had 70k kms it's a twin turbo!

That's good then! The newer the twin turbo the better. VVTi is a bit of a disappointment since it is weaker and seems to makes less power when you crank up the single turbo as compared to the twins.

Says who? I drive a JZX100 chaser and I say the vvti 1JZ is a great engine.

Says the performance figures of the cars fitted with the engines. A TT soarer has just gone low 12's with stock turbos. AFAICT no VVTi has done that on a stock turbo. Its also known that the VVTi has weaker internals.

This does not mean it is not a great engine, just that the others are stronger with a stock bottom end, and make more power with stock turbos. Knowing this, you would be silly to pay more for one for an engine conversion. A JZX100 chaser is great car.

I agree you'd be mad to pay twice the price or whatever they ask for them, especially if youre going to be modifying it.

Where did you hear about the weaker internals?

Toymods and the Supra forums. There was a bit of conflicting info around, but I think the end result was it had smaller rods. Once again it is second hand info, but certainly worth figuring out 100% before purchasing a VVTi for a conversion.
