The initial consult was $300. The total is $550 all done, so I owe him another $250 once he makes another inspection after the basics, and then a final inspection to issue the certificate itself.
I thought it was well cheap to be honest. I am sure it ended up $1500 in the olden days.
73 you don't have to 'do shit' for emissions. Muz - be very careful to check the various adrs on the compliance plate, as this will over-rule any year by year stuff (owing to how the Hq and J etc didn't exactly fall into precise years, so to speak.)
Can't believe nobody has said 'drop a v8 in it'....

No emissions mentioned in the adrs, and I guess this is what the engineer is considering. Or I may be missing the point entirely.
Doesn't matter, because I will run a cat and the canister, althoguh surely a two speed fuel pump would technically be part of the emissions control system of the factory car. Doesn't concern me but the letter of the law would mean every component that could have any effect on emissions should be as installed standard in the donor car. All that matters to me is what old mate is happy to sign off.
The two speed fuel pump is for quietness and longivity of the pump. Its extremely rare to hear of a toyota (denso) pump failing because of this, but you hear about the blasted fuel pump ecu's breaking all the time. You'll need the fuel pump ecu as it controls the priming of the pump, unless you have an aftermarket computer doing that. You can bypass it but then the pump doesn't turn off after 5 seconds on reds. If the engineer picks this up, they'll fail it.
A friend has these hanging around for a 1J, they are to suit a couple of T25/28's, surely you could come across a pair of SR turbo's pretty cheap these days:w:
Last we spoke he said he wanted $400 for them, but i could probably knock him down a bit, made quite well out of steam pipe.
Yeah jampac, I understand that, I was just saying that to be strictly legal, surely it would be a required part. I will def use the Al special sauce way, as I am neither a law obider, or a masochist :D
Turbo351, I think if I was going to change turbos it would be for a big single. For that you have to add a programmable interceptor/ ecu replacement, and I am trying to stick to a budget here man! What is the ct12 like compared to a stock t25?
