Electric Fence kit to fire spark plug

I recently purchased a Ebay 6kV Electric Fence kit in the hopes it would be enough to ignite a propane pilot light. After receiving it and hooking it up, it visually sparks on the spark plug every 1.3 seconds but it just won't ignite the propane pilot. I knew most coil ignition systems are 25 - 60kV so was hoping for the best, as this systems puts out 6kV.

The Electric Fence kit is ideal for the application as it just constantly sparks every 1.3s all day long, however when trying to get it to light the propane pilot it just wouldn't happen. It seems as thought the spark is too weak.

It there a cheap & nasty way to add a coil to bump up the voltage to the spark plug so it will ignite easily? The biggest issue is the output on the electric fence system is 6kV so simply hooking up a capacitor inline might not be that simple?

As a point of reference, the electric fence energizer would be 6kV ideal, unloaded. Mine is 12kV @ 2 joule (2J is heaps for an energiser! this is for 300kg+ adult pigs) and drops to less than half the voltage if it has any load.

Does it HAVE to be a spark plug? If you want to ignite a gas stream, this will do it with just a 12v supply - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DC12V-Hi...kAAOSw1ZBUuGbK

and if you want to re-ignite a pilot light, you can fire the igniter with a DIY fire detector so it only sparks when needed - https://www.instructables.com/id/Fla...-With-Arduino/

These are how automatic-lit flame weeders tend to be made.

12v feed, ignition coil, tachymetric relay and (normally closed) relay wired up so that the tachymetric relay going open circuit triggers therelay to light the plug and send the close signal to the tachymetric (which opens the other relay)?
I'd need to sit down and figure out the wiring, but should be doable.

There is a Jacobs ladder kit at Jaycar, DIY, solder everything on the board, add V6 mang coil, and you're off to the races, I use it as the ignition source on my gas turbine.
I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me...

Dunno why I didn't think of that - I've got a set of mang coils sitting on a shelf for when I get around to grabbing one!

Hobbyking sell a ignition kit for the red head pulse jet, I run mine off a cordless drill battery. It chucks a big fat spark on the little spark plug that comes with the kit

Are you sure it's not an issue with your air/fuel mixture? A spark plug is very local, you may just need to work on its position.
Is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

Sorry for the late reply everyone. We managed to get it working fine without any modifications - it was all about getting the air/gas mixtures right. We also closed the gap on the spark plug a little so that it's closer to ~3mm. After doing some reading the general rule of thumb is that each mm of gap needs at least 1kV.
