    Generally agree on LS (especially just coming back from drag week) but UZ still offers absolutely decent bang for buck provided you can keep your your goals clearly defined (ie, don't set out to build an 9 sec car and then decide you want to run 8s)

    As above my totally stock high km UZ runs 400rwhp through a glide (toyota auto add another 50rwhp but lols at spending any money on an A340) - have done a couple of thousand kms on this setup = no issues. Add $1000 in parts (head studs, cometic gaskets & springs) and it'll comfortably run high 400's rwhp all day on stock bottom end with a glide = easy high 9s in a VL.

    Shit gets expensive super quickly once you go chasing big numbers or dont get the combo right (turbo, cooling system, ecu, trans). UZ IMO is all about cheap fun with something a bit different, want anything more than the above UZ is not for you.

    For a 9sec drag car go LS... (give me the 3UZ)

    if you're set on a UZ... 3UZ is good if you intend to do pistons and rods anyway, in theory (according to some toyota docs) it's the stiffest UZ block they made with partially siamesed bores...

    6 speed auto is a good thing, I have not wired it to the PCS TCM-2000 yet but will at some stage... uses same valve body as landcruiser 6 speed if you need beefier box..

    Pretty much the 2/3uz weren’t favourably the ones to make waspkillers with.

    Keep to the #barratheworld way of things and will be fine.

    3UZ probs not a great start. An old 1UZ is the easiest to get cams etc for.
