Getting a feeling for the freq control I have never had the luxury of before.
Still want to play with waveform settings, too many buttons to keep track of.

Yeah mate, we have a synchrowave and the same dynasty at work and when it comes to aluminium wow such a difference. Still though reckon that the dynasty welds exactly like my everlast 210ext with the same amount of settings

Also set your frequency to 150hz... i can weld on that setting with the cleaning set to pro and have very tiny weld beads with next to no etching. Also another cool feature is the 4 different types of wave patterns you can set on ac.

bumping the freq right up to 150hz+ did give me a very nice small clean bead, on butt weld pipe work where fit up is often not 100%, it feels like your window for a good weld is very very small. Drop it back down to 80-100hz, soft square wave, 68-70% bal, 5356 rod, it lays a nice flat bead with near 100% penetration that is so easy to control.
No bluetooth pedal, i just couldnt justify the extra cost as i'm not that good or do that much where i need to move it around.

Yeah I usually bounce between 80-150hz depending on the job of course. But yeah 150hz has definitely helped me when it comes to 1.6 and under aluminium sheet. I wouldn't even attempt to bastardise it with the old miller.

A bit of history. I've spent about 3 years as a metal fabricator. I had a LONG way to go but really enjoyed my life and my work and the skills it gave me.
But I never once felt that i had gained some sore of magical pathway to the force. I was learning to weld. I was getting better at it. There were people who do a much better job. There were a hole lot of people who weren't as good. Torch time was the ticket ...
Anyways. I also have a bit of love for cycling. And since I can't race or ride much these days. I have tried to get my toe into the bike frame fabrication.
Fuck me there are some precious cunts out there...
People saying things like titanium cannot be repaired or welded. Carbon fibre bikes can't be repaired safely without (and this is the start of the whinge lol) SPECIFIC BICYCLE EXPERIANCE.
This was all in regards to the use of brazing instead of tigging. I get where he (mi Ming) is coming from, but his understanding and explanation of the technical reasonings is simply wrong.
But again it comes down to a claim that somehow being a bicycle frame maker gives you magical abilities that the regular world can't grasp. Apparently a talented tradesmen is unable to use basic common fabrication skills to produce safe and tidy frames. You need years of pointless filling and sanding (brazing lol) before you have the amazing credibility to weld bicycle tubing...
Fucking numbnuts. It kills me. They don't have magic skills. A great fabricator is the same as a great bike frame builder, or a great car builder, or anything that they are great at.. it's attention to detail, creativity and pride in work...
Another guy I had the same argument with is apparently an incredibly smart engineer guy who has worked in formula 1. But yeah. He still claims that to be a bicycle frame builder requires some sort of yoda like talent to spiritualise the creation of bicycles.....

Not that you can really see the welds or anything but this is one of our latest machines that went to Europe.
I made the swingarms that the axles mount to and the drawbar and did a few other random parts on it. Apparently it went together very straight forward and is working a treat.

If particularly interested, here's a few articles about obsolete tubing (and lug construction), probably part 4 has the greatest relevance to braze v tig
I remember an interesting article several years ago where one of the smaller scale US makers - might have been Cannondale - found their best operators were female for fine tig work....of course all the big Taiwanese and Chinese players have robots doing the welding now.
another stick question, what do we call 7014 rods here in Australia? I want a rod that will do this, the best results I've had with stick is when I can just rest the electrode against whatever I'm welding.
