OK thanks. I was considering the inverted Z's but have the Fankhauser dxfs as well, so I could easily modify them.

If you are going completely custom, then you may as well go with something proven like the VORON, and expand it if needed.Chris

To date my mod costs areOriginally posted by takai View PostIf you are going completely custom, then you may as well go with something proven like the VORON, and expand it if needed.
Custom ally bits - Free
Dual Z lead screws+ steppers and backlash springs - $45.00
Dual X linear rails - $35.00
Dual 3D J head volcano hot ends + Bulldog extruders+steppers = $52.00
Once that arrives iam looking at MGM12 rails for the Z and Y, they will cost about $50.00.
I should of scratch built from the get go rather than buy the Tevo and bin all of it except the electrics (I binned the power supply though).Don't mention the adBlocker !!

How bad would this be as a first printer?

Im teaching myself CAD so it would be cool to prototype my drawings instead of just looking at them onscreen.

Not much left of the Tevo !!.Originally posted by Shonky View PostYou don't fuck around eh?
Be funny as fuck if all my mods make zero improvement (which I suspect to be the case as the electrical side I will fail on massively) but Meh, I like to tinker.Don't mention the adBlocker !!

I think I've fried the extruder driver on my Melzi board. It's still under warranty, but this is the third board which has died and I'm a little over it.
What does the PF brains trust reccomend for a basic replacement board for an I3 style printer? Preferably as close to plug and play* as I can get (replaceable driver modules would be a huge plus)...
* - Step by step instructions on how to get it working are acceptable.Imagination is more important than knowledge.

Just get a RAMPS 1.4 style board. So Arduino Mega and RAMPS 1.4 controller, a bunch of stepper drivers and a display. You can now pick them up for $50 ish as a full kit: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AU-3D-Pri...-/332094542020Originally posted by Ben Wilson View PostI think I've fried the extruder driver on my Melzi board.
