Righto so finaly all my bits arrived so its time to move forward and get this thing assembled however I have made a serious boo boo.

That spool roller that I made, I made it to suit the pissy little 250gm rolls of filament that comes with the machine.

Any of you lads able to tell me the diametre and width of 1kg rolls of 1.75mm so I can redo this part.

    Thanks.

I've got one spool which is 160mm OD, 90mm wide and it has a 30mm bore. It might be worth allowing for oddballs like this as well.

            yeah current is 150 x 45.

The width dont really matter but need to re-draw it all as the 2 rails I have on bearings running full width collide with my linear rails.. will change it to suit spools from 150 to 220.

                  FILAMENT STOCK SELLOUT!

Hi Chaps, I have been selling filament and printers for the last three and a half years but the competition and margins are now so fucked that importing bulk filament and going through the customs and so-forth just ain't worth it.

Some of you fine gentlemen have bought filament from me over that time and i have always provided mates rates for PF'ers. The time has come to let my existing stock go so I have chopped the prices considerably.

I have little or no PLA filament in stock so it's all ABS, PET-G and some other odds and ends.

I have cut ABS back to $20 per 1Kg roll and it's made by Esun who are one of the biggest manufacturers in China.

I also have plenty of PET-G which is a very good engineering plastic, has excellent inter-layer bonding and chemical resistance. I've chopped $16 off the price per Kg there so if you've never tried it, this might be the moment.

I have a small amount of ColorFabb hybrids, bronze, brass, copper (only 1) and wood. The wood filament is my favorite out of these.

I have water soluble PVA that's reduced by $30 to $20 and High Impact Poly Styrene reduced to $20 which are dedicated support materials. The PVA is soft and can be tricky to print but if you can control the retraction seeings on your extruder, it wont be a big issue (dual extruder machine needed to take advantage of dedicated support material)

The only way to purchase this time will be via the online store but the savings are big ! www.modfab.com.au

BTW, we're not going bust, I am just evolving the business and focusing on our training activities.

Bill or mods, if you think this post violates the forum rules, feel free to chop it :-)

note - don't PET print on kapton... painters tape ftw - but I have used bennys fillament - to much more success than any other supply i've had..
This is a post i wrote by mistake, which is nice...

Ugh, my PEI bed has started to lift, basically the 3M adhesive is getting old. Going to need to replace it, but i suspect that wont happen immediately with my current schedule...

PET will print well on blue tape or a bed sticker like BuildTak with some UHU glue added.

Yeah, i mostly print ABS. Replacing it isnt hard, just needs to be removed from the setup and frozen for a bit. But gettign the time to do that....

Well setting up my Dual Z's has been a lot more involved than I anticipated but finally it is happy (ish) but as it hits the home end stop the motors grind slightly and bumps out of square, is this an issue that I need to further fine tune or will it be ok ?

It sounds like one of the motors is being stalled and still running for a few more steps, hence the BRRRRP noise. Are the Z motors being run in parrallel or do they have separate drivers? Personally, i don't like dual motor Z axis setups. I think a rigid design with a single motor and screw is better (easier to tune anyhow!). There's not much load on the Z motors, so I'd be tempted to parrallel them off a single output if that's not the current setup.

They are wired in series off the one driver, trying to set up in parrallel caused no end of issues with the 2 screws binding up.
