500x500x500 for just shy of $1300AUD. Anyone used one of these?

Have been selling a few large plastic printed items and the people I've been getting to print for me are incredibly unreliable and it's hurting business.

I think you'd spend a lot of time tweaking that machine afraid. If you want to get a machine to do commercial grade printing, I'd start with something like the Up! BOX or possibly the new FlashForge Guider II http://www.the3dprinter.com.au/flashforge-guider-ii

Anyone here able to mill a small thingiverse object minus the framework?

I need a handful of these but milled from aluminium and as smooth as possible.

Anyone here DIY a 3d scanner from a xbox kinect setup or a raspberry pi deal?

My Wanhao Duplicator 7 showed up last week. It was a bit of a faff getting it to run off a Raspberry Pi with NanoDLP on it but worth the effort. Normally you would need to tether a PC to the printer for the duration of the print. It works by setting itself as a second monitor and then projects a UV image onto the photopolymer resin. The only operating parts of the printer are the Z axis and the LCD screen which acts as a mask, only letting the UV light from the projector hit the resin in the pattern of the layer being printed and the UV LED array..

This little collection of crystals is printed in Monocure Rapid clear at 65 microns per layer. The machine is capable of printing at a minimum of 35 microns per layer.

The resin is fairly brittle when cured and will become more-so the longer it's exposed to UV, it will also discolor to a pale yellow.

Pretty good eh? And I think with a bit of tuning it could be even better

Getting either the flashforge or an Upbox seems to be the shit? Anyone have one?

ive got a flashforge - wooden one, no sides - it's getting a little bit sloppy not as precise as it was - but ive had it a fair while and it's done some work...

Do you have a 3D model of this or just a drawing? If you can output a 3D mesh (.stl) file from your CAD application it would be pretty straightforward.

Either machine would be good snavy.. The Flashforge machine has a smaller build volume than the UP Box but it will give you good results. The UP Box is a good machine and well supported if you have the bux. Main downside with the UP is the material lock in, their filament is dear!

Its been modeled in solidworks by crack on the forum. I'm sure we can export to whatever file format is required.

I will punch it out for you for nothing if you come pick it up (ie i don't have to deal with posting), I am at yatala.

would be in PLA plastic and ask crack nicely for a .STL file of it
