Cheers, will give it a shot... was also thinkin of trying rudders at the end of the exhausts. I will be making a few test mules/prototypes to play around with this sort of thing on before I go the whole hog on a 1:12 scale version

I found out about it about an hour ago, and figured it couldn't hurt to create an account even though my printer is still at least a month away. I see you've already got your account up and running.

Bill - how hard would it be to make motorbike parts (eg sprockets etc) from metal with one of these? My Dad restores old bikes and parts are impossible to find.

You probably want something like this for sprockets ...

Not possible on mine as it only prints ABS plastic (lego plastic) but there are machines that can do metal that ends up a bit like sintered metal. But not all that strong because of it.
What I'd be more tempted to do, depending upon the shape of the sprocket, is to either water-cut out sheet steel and/or layer it up with other water-cut sheets to make the desired shape.

Sprockets are definitely a water-jet cutters job. You can achieve very smooth edge finish on steel (if the operator isn't a muppet). Cut on water jet, quick spin on a lathe to put the required taper on the teeth.

                  Job done!

If ABS you are looking at roughly 20-40 MPa

What is the rough dimensions of a prop?

Anywhere from ~50 mm to 50 metres.

Proportional dimensions wrt cross sectional area vs length.

rpm for a the plastic prop/engine it is fit to.
