    2.2L SR20 turbo selection

    Hey cunts,

SR20 I have has the 3540 with some bigger comp wheel by GCG, core has too much end float so I want to replace it. I have 3 options.

    GTX35 $2700 bolt in
Put new core in the 3566 about $1100 bolt in
Precision 6266 about 2700 need to model up dump drain etc

    What is the best option.

Depends. Are you reasonably happy with that turbo? Replacing with the same core saves retune too, assuminig its running atm
Disclaimer: I may have no idea what I am talking about

              GTX3582. 3566 is old TO4Z compressor on GT35 turbine.
If you are negro riche then get a complete GTX3584RS. Assuming you want more power.

What sort of lag we talking going up to the rs?

Also does this run the same turbine side eg will the dump bolt up or need to mod?

GTX3584RS wont bolt up, its Vband everything and the housings are not compatible.

GTX3582R Gen 2 should have the same turbine wheel as an old GT35R, which I think is the same as a GT3540, so it should be fine to swap the turbine housings and pretty much bolt on.

Maps are available on the garrett website but I dont know how to compare to what you have now. Should be at least the same or better power.

So I read a bit on the Garrett site, gen 2 gtx3582 uses same old exhaust housing, gtx3584 is all new turbine side so I am getting a price on that but I'm thinking a gen 2 gtx3582 is prob half smart as bolt on and prob same or more power. But I am tempted by the new 3584rs lol

Ok cunts well I went with precision 6266, my friend convinced me mind you he has a much larger PT at 55 psi on a SR20 and does 180 mph so we will see how this smaller one goes. He says to not be scared on the boost levels cos these things keep making your 10kw per psi. When it makes about 460 I'll stop winding in.

                          EFRs never got considered?
                          I've got a 7163G (twin-scroll internal gate) on the way for my 2.2L 3SGTE.

Funnily enough, im buying it from Supercheap Auto.
GCG have the 7163 advertised for ~$3200.
I ordered it on Supercheaps website while they had a 30% off sale a few weeks back... came to $2300 :D
(they sell some Garrets too BTW).
